Edit: it's the 2nd one. I tryed to google for some solutions. First thing first are you using mods or cheats? Have you tryed completing some side quests and turning back there? Some people mentioning rocks blocking the way, I never noticed that myself but it could help.
They also mentioned to not use any explosive from the mech.
If everything else fails and you still want to play the game anyways, there's this collection of save files hosted here: https://www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/threads/saints-row-iv-autosave-collection.5045/
(Note: this is a GOG copy of the game, which is updated)
Interesting that where you aim influences that. That's so.. dumb to me. I've replayed that mission so much I'm getting sick of Matt as a character altogther and just rather him get eaten by the aliens lol. But, I decided to just go to the link provided by Arondight because even after doing all those suggestions and not having a cheat or MOD installed and still getting stick I just downloaded a MOD to skip the mission completely and advance without it.
This one here. Though it skips the mission for you (aka it's already completed) you'd have to restart a lot of side missions and other things that you've already done as well as change your character. Since the saved file is from someone elses game. I think you start off at like rank 9 with $2,000 or so and have to build up from there. It's slightly annoying, but better than replaying that Matt mission for the 8th time.
EDIT: The cheat got me past that part, but then my ship is literally sucked TOWARD a pile of rocks out of nowhere, and i'm stuck again.
Did you try reducing your resolution, though? There's a glitch in a couple of other parts of the game where the only way to get past it is to reduce the res to something really low, like 800x600. (It's not a function of FPS, so don't scoff.) You might try that. No guarantees, though.
