PS4 controller not working

When I first launched SR4, I was able to connect the ps4 controller, however, only the left analog was working, everything else had no response. My ps4 controller works fully well in SR3 so its not the controller being broken. Then, I closed SR4 and relaunched only to have no response at all with the ps4 controller.

I don't run any controller software other than the Steams configuration thingy where you can choose the ps4 controller mode. I use a micro-usb cable and genuine sony ps4 controller from my ps4.

My PC specs:
i7-4790 3.6 GHz
16 GB RAM
Windows 10
GTX 1060 6 GB

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

I'll just copy and paste from another thread. Just replace "Xbox" with "PS4"

Ever since SR4 added native Steam controller support, people have been having a TON of controller problems. Suggestions:

1. Make sure Steam is up to date and the latest version.

2. Go into Big Picture Mode then Settings then see if "Xbox Configuration Support" is checked. Try changing it, then try changing it back.

3. Under Saints Row 4 (in BPM) see if Controller Configuration shows up. If it does, go in and change the configuration to "Official Configuration for Saints Row IV", then modify from there to get it the way you want. Older configurations (from before native Steam Controller Support was botched into the game) won't work.

I had the same issue with the left analog stick. You can fix it by going to your controller layout through steam and setting the touch pad to nothing.

Update: I was able to get almost all controls working except for the reload button, somehow the reload function does not work. At themoment its set on the square button but I can change to another action and the square button will register but somehow reload will not work :/ I guess its playable with controller now.

Reload being broken is a known issue with with the native Steam Controller support. You may also notice that there is no analog functionality for acceleration and braking, that controls for the menus aren't mapped by default, and that some are outright missing. Among many other problems.
