Thanks for the reply. I will just try to reinstall the game and otherwise keep playing without the achievements. Not that important anyway.
In the event that you misconstrued the comment that prompted your reply, it wasn't aimed at you in any negative sense, but was more of an inferred observation; I've noted a significant proportion of respondents who write skeptically because they're unable to see the others' viewpoints, and/or they haven't experienced whatever's being discussed.
As for the uninstallation…well, it's rather a bridge too far. The achievements in this game—in all the Saints games I've played (SR2-Gat)—are really buggy as Hell. For an example, note my soon-to-be-posted Saints Row: The Third "AI is feckin' BLIND!"
I learned my lesson about cheats back in 2005 with GTA: San Andreas. The golden rule: Don't make any saves when cheats are turned on. Not only will it turn off achievements, but it can even corrupt all your saves beyond recovery—yeah, I know: It doesn't make sense, but it can happen. I made all pedestrians weapon-weilding Elvises and saved, and then I couldn't load that save…and became horrified when my OTHER (non-cheat) saves wouldn't load, either. Had to start all over with that stupid bicycle again.
