Hey Lightbearers –

like we mentioned in our last post here at Wanderful, the game has undergone many changes and therefore got its new name Into the Emberlands and also its very own steam page.

After an amazing (almost) two weeks since the Wholesome Direct showcase and the release of our demo, we’re happy to announce that Into the Emberlands has successfully launched into Early Access!

We’ve come such a long way since the first prototypes, last year’s demo of Wanderful (as Into the Emberlands was called back then) and a major overhaul of the game’s concept and gameplay.

Now, it is time for you to become the Lightbearers! Venture out, meet mystical creatures, rescue those who were lost in the darkness, and build a safe haven for the Knacks.

We’re so excited to find out how you like our cozy rogue-lite adventure, and we can’t wait to improve the game together with you. Become a part of our community on Discord[discord.gg] and tell us about your thoughts and experiences with the game!

Today, we come bearing some rather unusual news: the game you have been waiting for has changed. It has changed A LOT. So much, in fact, that we decided to rename the project to do its changes justice. We deliberated a lot after the feedback from last year’s demo, pondered about the “what”s and “why”s of the game, and brought new creative ideas to the table that changed the gameplay completely. The result of all that is a brand new game that we hope will captivate your hearts just as much.
So, without further ado: Wanderful is now Into the Emberlands!

While retaining the style and charm of Wanderful, Into the Emberlands has evolved into a delightful fusion of cozy exploration and rogue-lite excitement. As the chosen light bearer tasked with rebuilding the home of the charming Knacks, in a world threatened by a mysterious looming Miasma, venture out into a world full of small adventures and big surprises.
Across various biomes, you will encounter mystical creatures that rely on your aid and lost Knacks yearning to find their way back home. Whenever you return to the village, you can use the precious resources you collected to repair buildings and help Knacks with little errands, so that the village can grow and thrive. Each repaired building and new vendor will give you a head-start on your next quest and lay the foundation for future adventures.
Beware though, for the Miasma is ever-present, and if your lantern fades, darkness will close in around you and the next light bearer will need to step into your shoes.
