How do I get Legendary Heroes?
Do I have to play at harder difficulties like Challenging or Impossible for legendary heroes to appear for hiring?
So far, I have played 300 turns, but have not seen one.
Thanks.

Edit: Another important note, they cannot appear at all until a certain amount of turns have passed. So you won't be able to get them to spawn in the early game, no matter how much reloading you do. IIRC it was somehting like 100 turns for the legendary heroes to start to spawn.

The game also has a bit of calculations to determine if you even deserve a hero. So being weaker, and having fewer heroes already, will both increase your chances.

They're pretty rare, don't think there are any condition. Some show up as rewards from looting lairs and stuff.

none are locked by difficulty. as said above, they can appear as rewards at looting lairs and such. (and i believe at more difficult worlds, with stronger enemies, like the shadow and lava worlds. Not at the easier artic and desert worlds etc as i never got one there)

If you want to speed it up, just keep casting the spell that makes a random lord appear the next turn, i have 3 legendary lords in my last game > the flying witch with 3 range is a beast)

What spell is that? I do not have any of the DLCs, so it's probably a spell from the DLCs.

ahh yes, apparently it is part of the ''Spectacular Spell Pack'', did not even realize.
The spell is called ""Call of Suzerain""

Keep in mind, there can only ever be one of a particular legendary lord per game. So if an AI gets it before you do, you'll never be able to get that one.

It seems also that the sequence of heroes that you can get in a game is determined at creation time, right? I did a test, started a new game, and immediately make a save. Then i start summoning a hero. I tried to reload like 5 times, and still get the exact same hero.

Now if I start a new game again, and make another save, I will get a different hero, but it is still that exact different hero if I load the new game.

I am trying to figure out if there can be some randomness, and how I might be able to exploit the randomness to get a legendary hero. Any thoughts?

BTW, thanks to everyone for al your help.
I finally have a very satisfying game, and was able to hire 4 legendary heroes in a game.

I find that I can still continue to hire more legendary heroes in the game, and just replace my existing legendary with new ones. I am doing this to get all the heroes recruitment achievements.

I always take the witch bae and Sart the Torvega. They're the coolest and most useful in skills. Highly turn actions efficent.

The Spirit and Barfor are cool, but not as turn actions efficent, cuz require healers behind'em or rest to heal(waste of turns).

Skeleton King requires alot of resting as there are problems with healing him for other races than the undead.

Kinda never used the High Keeper beacuse I never got him even through Call of Suzerein spell abusement. Somewhat still I find him boring before I ever even played him. You can let me know what you think tho. I guess he's not even half as good as Witch bae, but perhaps better than the fighters(except Sart) cuz he's ranged. lol

Hello guys. I just found your post while looking for a solution for my problem.
I have all but one last achievement. The last missing one is:
Beast of Legends
Hire a legendary hero - Terrible Monster

I tried several games and found all of the other lords like 20+ times, even in a single game.
But the Rabbit / "Cruel Creature" does not appear, even a single time.

I even tried out a Mod where you could recruit heroes as units, hoping this will help.
But again I couldn't find the Rabbit (after choosing Arethi Elves.
This was written in the description of the mod that he will be available there)
I checked all the others races, just in case. But couldn't find him there either.
Although besides this the mod seems to work, all other heroes are in there.
(the Bowmaster and Lord-Keeper for Arathi, Supreme vampire, Elder Ghost, for Undead, etc.)

So are there any requirements for the Rabbit / Cruel creature?
Am I missing anything...? I know I saw him in the first Warlock.
But never in Warlock 2. Does I need a DLC for him to appear?
I own the Naga DLC, worldpack and Three Mighty Mages DLC.

I couldn't find any information about this. This seems to be really strange for me.
Helpful advice would be highly appreciated! :)

The Terrible monster is not a legendary hero. He's a famous. You can purchase the DLC with the "Call of Suzerain" spell if you like. Note that it's a famous, so perhaps you'll get him even on the first turn.
Other way you just could edit the Elven followers great mage improvement in the editor to give You the Terrible monster, but in order to make it work, You should change him from a "hero" to "improvement_hero" in his properties.|
Cheers

Thank you very much, that was a great idea! :)

With the help of the editor it was really easy to achieve this.
Before, I did not even realize that there is an editor, just overead it somehow I guess...
What a pity, because it looks like you can customize so many things. Great to know it now.

Again, thank you very much for your help :)

I suggest try out the Renaissance mod if You own the DLCs. It's really great! Yeah, the editor is the main tool used for modding the game. You can edit anything if You know how.
