Devs, please do something about the crashes
It is obvious that the opriginal thread was abandoned after one generic suggestion of drivers update, however, it is obvious that the game is not compatible with Win10. Fun as it may be, WinXP, Win7, etc. are out of the production now, and we have to stick with Win10 (and higher in the future), and the game cannot be enjoyed for it crashes on every second manual or autosave.

Update the drivers? Doesn't work.
Go into windowed mode? Doesn't work.
Keep only two saves? Doesn't work (and it's a b*tch to clean them after each and every autosave to, - god forbid, - have more than two autosaves).

The entire thread of https://steamcommunity.com/app/205650/discussions/0/1290690669217560169/ is about how the solutions do not woirk on Win10. Please, listen to them and patch the game up - it is impossible to play.

I had no issues until now- even after I deleted all saves but one, it crashes when it tries to autosave at Whitechapel. What do I do now?

Well, the most likely case is a unofficial patch from a mod team as the devs are really no longer working on this franchise

With that said the windowed mode actually works (for me anyways). I had to re-adjust some graphical settings if that helps.

I'll try that, thanks! Because having only 2 saves and running it windowed only helped temporarily :( What exactly did you change?

I cannot even launch this on Win10.

Frogware should have a big disclaimer: This game does not work with windows 10. But they do not care so FU for selling a non working game on modern OS.

If you guys check the game.log file in AppData\Roaming\Frogwares\The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, you can find out what's causing the crash on save. If it's trhe same cause for everyone, might be able to ask a modder to look into it. Here's the relevant section of my game.log file:

Maybe I've found a "workaround" for playing fullscreen and using saves at will: every time I want to save I switch to 1st person view, save and then get back to my usual 3rd person view (it's 4 hours that I play doing so and for now l haven't had a single crash...at the moment it could only be luck, but I think it's worth a try)
individual865 Dec 16, 2018 @ 1:50pm
Yeah, alas, it still crashes in first person for me. Seems to be a problem with Windows 10, as I can save fine on my old rig that's running 8.1.

This post from a different thread solved the crashes for me!

I think I found a working solution. Just patch the game to use more memory.
1) Download https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371 and extract 4gb_patch.exe from downloaded zip file.
2) Run it and choose game.exe in game's directory. (you can find it by right clicking the game in your library, then Properties->Local Files->Browse Local Files...)
3) Close the window that says "Executable successfully patched!"

Note that steam can replace patched file during the update and you'll need to patch it again (never happend to me though).

Almost finished the game in fullscreen mode with a lot of save slots, and didn't crash once.
