Like the first one, the sequel is not perfect, but, when dragon's dogma shine, it is the best of best, only if you accept to adapt yourself to the game rules, and wait for something new.
From my point of view, If i forgot "Ghost of tsushima", "Dragon's dogma 2" have the Best action system / battles of open words games.
Only regret, the game is too easy.
btw to note on the mtx literally dont buy them.
in fact dont even buy the deluxe edition of this game its not worth it.
the standard is fine and in reality there are maybe 2 mtx you will want.
1 being the soundtrack of the og game in place of the current music and second being the port crystal (some call it the bakbahtal crystal i guess cause that place doesnt have one dont know yet havent been there)
other than that performance is still much to be desired but it is playable and HOPEFULLY will get patched in the coming weeks (sooner rather than later would be nice)
But you get a port crystal right before you go to Bakbatahl. Like literally. No need to ever buy one with real money.
I have plenty of complaints about the game, but I still enjoyed most of my time with it. It shares all the same flaws the first one has, with one or two new ones thrown into the mix, but the game underneath is wonderful.
That said, the story is definitely the weakest aspect.
Otherwise, avoid it like the dragon's plague.
This game is wonderful. However it is not similar to the frst three games you mentioned in any capacity. It bears a passing resemblance to Elden Ring from afar.
If you like the idea of setting out with a few companions on an adventure driven solely by your own desire to do so where the journey is the goal you will love this game. If you take the journey in order to reach the end you will not.
This game is a masterclass in what it does well, exploration, combat and emergent gameplay.
It is rather terrible at presenting a narrative and storytelling as a whole.
Difficulty falls off a cliff around mid to late game and never comes back.
Some users find the game hard to play due to performance issues, though it runs great for me. You should perhaps list your specs so those with similar hardware can comment.
Despite the flaws, it's my favorite game this year by miles and miles.
I argue that the gameplay in the first game is on par with the 2nd one, if not better.
In the first game you have alot more freedom on what skills you take into battle, since you have more slots, not to mention you have all classes available at the start of the game, in the 2nd game classes are locked behind quests and some are only unlocked far into the game.
Also the first game has a better story and more fleshed out characters, in the 2nd game one of the characters that is literally on the BOX ART gets left in the dirt throughout the whole story.
I just dove back into Dark Arisen after 100 hours of DD2, and while it's still a great game, many things were improved in the sequel. Not everything is better, but a lot is. With that being said, many things were better in Dark Arisen as well.
It's kind of a mix. I hope we get a large expansion to elevate the experience sooner rather than later.
That's only surface lvl stuff though, if you look at the game at a first glance then this is what you will see, which was probably the devs intention from the very start.
Look at the rushed story, the lack of proper dungeons(not just caves), lack of memorable characters, less skills and spells, less variety for armor and weapons, poor performance...............less enemy variety.
