I like the game, which I had completed twice back then on PS2, lol!
Seriously though, they are both very different games.
for those who don't know the games your main guy has dragon blood and can turn into a dragon depending on game will determine if its a one shot attack for stay for the battle it was a fun system that you could use to your hearts content then dragon quarter came and said hey we know everyone loves to play with the dragon stuff so how about we make it so that if you use dragon abilities or just take longer than we want your gage goes up and hey bonus if you max it game over
sure, you basically can't D-Dash anymore once the counter starts, but I was okay with the dragon abilities having an even greater cost than AP, it makes the mechanic feel more unique and adds great weight to the decision to pop off (though you're right insofar as I loved splicing dragon genes in BoF3 partly just to see what would come out)
and the game over wasn't that big a deal since you could load an earlier save, but keep your current item storage/party XP and have your D-Counter back down where it was before, so you could try that part of the game again and get through with less D this time (and sometimes see new events along the way)
the D-Counter was harsh because they wanted you to use the SOL System and you won't do that if you never find yourself SOL...it's kind of a bummer that it takes over Ryu's whole shtick like that, but Dragon Quarter is also arguably the most overpowered the dragon form has ever been, so they had to leash that freak somehow
Extrinsically motivated players' notion of what people would enjoy is just downright bizarre.
It's like you guys actually believe everyone would enjoy JRPGs if they actually gave it a fair chance.
Thinking people who bought a very action oriented 3rd person RPG would enjoy BoF better is honestly a strange notion.
I honestly can't remember when I played BoFDQ. But it was quite difficult to get into. If I am not mistaken, it was one of those games that you can legitimately fail a playthrough by having the dragon ratio go up too high. Maybe, I can't remember.
I did remember achieving the best ending by having a low dragon ratio score, Had a blast. But seeing that ppl here is complaining about lack of quest markers, the game will infuriate the average gamer nowadays.
