Weird. I mean with all the questionable material in games as a whole nowadays not letting players have their loli pawns or whatever it is (haven't played the first game yet) is surprising to see.
Alright well modders will fix it right?
Oh crap just checked out you can make furries... well lets see if it boosts sales.
Almost everything these people do is specifically done to piss off men/weeaboos/conservatives or whoever else they hate. This thread is loaded with people actively confirming this and laughing about it.
Notice you can not only make a halfling short character in BG3 but you can also watch them get absolutely ass pounded by full size/adult companions.
The difference is this game is japanese so it has special rules.
It's not too far fetched when you think about how only in the US, there are problems with things like GamerGate or Sweet Baby. I remember articles talking about how Japanese devs found American localizers a nightmare to deal with, and something about using AI for future projects. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I mainly see these issues in the US.

There are 18 other games with dwarves right? It is a fantasy fact. That like saying that real dwarves or little people are freaky and wrong. Should they simply not exist because of nut jobs? The aspects of the game wouldn't even allow the child relationship aspect as many others have prevented. You could make dwarves in the original just fine.
Many Japanese developed games. Short races is a fact in 98% of them. Tarutaru, Lalafell, Impuda, Halflings, DWarves, Talwugma, Gnomes, and the list goes on. It is more rare they don't.
It is more likely they neglected it in the settings and it will be patched.
At the end of the day what really matters is that japanese games are "Special" and arent allowed to "cause body image issues" or "support bad ideologies"
Specifically and only Asian games.
Because these people /hate/ Asians and they especially hate men who watch asian media or enjoy asian video games.
People who say its an asian thing don't play very many asian RPG's or MMO's where tiny small races are common place.
Do you think many japanese developers are goign to cahnge their lore and races over them? Get rid of TaruTaru and Lalafell in FFXI and FFXIV, the Talwunga, Sashimo, Many halfling variations, gnome variations, dwarf variations... NOPE. Because they already and will contineu to exist regardless of people who seem to have odd things on their mind rather than a fantasy character.
IT started with Dwarves and gnomes and the sickies had to insert improper stuff that is in THEIR MINDS, not the others.
A note Life is strange 2 had no such scene in the game. There was a video edited modified one someone made but was pulled, person sued.
Actually I would like to say both Japanese games AND western games are subject to modern criticism and values. It started way back when doom first came out and was considered the cause of violence. We just stacked more morality/ethics weight onto games as the years passed.
I know, I'm just saying that criticism on the gaming industry started way back, but of course the modern version of it that we have now is way larger.
Last of Us part 2 has an unavoidable outright sex sequence? Nothing but praise.
An anime-styled game doesn't even actually show a titty, but just has an onsen present and it's not even a MANDATORY scene? Suddenly it's accused of everything from sexualizing children to 'objectifying women'.
There is a clear double-standard, even beyond the stupidity of the specter of 'the modern audience' that in reality is nonexistent. The biggest problem from social media, is it letting the minority groups signal boost their opinions as if it is the majority. That is what has TRULY fueled games getting turned into a social politics battleground. That and certain investor groups who we ACTUALLY can't talk about, who have been caught talking about using investment for social engineering, including talking about 'forcing behaviors' via threat of pulling funding.
