BUT the first one isnt dated .. its still great fun a blast to play
you dont get this kind of gameplay anywhere else
anyways like i said you dont need the first one
From showcase, they are saying that DD2 is taking place in an alternate reality of the first one. It's possible there will be tie ins of some sort but we can't know that as the game hasn't released yet.
If I had to give advice, I would say play DD1 and wait to play DD2. Let the guinea pigs take the hit. If it's "meh", wait for it to go on sale.
You don't see many games like DD1. Some people are turned off by DD1 because the game is only a fraction of what it was supposed to be, but the combat and exploration are still solid. DD1 has tons of hidden aspects to it and you can play for hundreds of hours and still be discovering new things.
As for the implied question of "is this a sequel or a prequel" the answer is: Yes
Do not get over hyped, you will be met with disappointment, take the game as it is, no other game is like it.
I keep hearing this "reused assets" thing, and frankly, it is one of the dumbest takes I've heard, oh a cyclops is acting like a cyclops from the first game, what big deal breaker that is,
Oh some moves from the first game has carried over, so character does the same animation.
Almost as if the game is a sequel, Why do people expect completely brand new animations, or better yet, i noticed armor and weapons from the first game, yet the glow up they got makes them look nearly unrecognizable.
Sounds like people do not want dragons dogma to look or feel like dragons dogma.
Let them be the test subjects, they opted into it for a gold-plated chestpiece (with garbage stats) after all.
