Have to agree with the Italian vibe of cassardis. Namely because of the roofs, native american cultures didn't have roofing tiles like that to my knowledge.

Unrelated, but it does seem odd to me that Cassardis is the only village... anywhere.

Cassardis just looks like any generic Mediterranean town. Yeah, the architecture consists almost completely of tiled and white houses to keep the heat out just like in real Mediterranean towns and the people all have Spanish, Greek, Italian sounding names. Or what the Japanese devs thought probably sounded Mediterranean. But anyway, they were probably inspired by many different things and locations in real life, video game locations don't have to be a counterpart to a real life location, just take a bit of inspiration here and there

Literally the only characters "integral" to the main story was your own Arisen, Grigori and the guy you play in the intro. Savan or something. Everyone else was pretty much a hollow shell and forgettable. People didn't play DD for the story though
