Do I Even Need the Runes/Bone Charms Now? *No Spoilers*

I have completed the first four chapters. I have maxed Blink, Possession, and Dark Vision. Now I feel I am just wasting time going after the runes or bone charms because none of the other power-ups seems interesting, or something that I would use, or even suit my play-style (sneak - choke, only).

So, I am thinking - with the backlog of games piling up, I could speedrun Dishonored, and by that I mean focus completely on the objectives and nothing else (exploring would be as usual). I could finish the game quickly.

So my questions is - can I really do that? Would I ever need the runes or bone charms during the later missions?

you can beat the game with just lvl1 blink, so down to it, no you don't need to get any of those

you dont "need" to get those bone charms and runes if you want to miss half of the game. you dont need to explore the maps fully to reach the end of each level.but if you want you can spend hours exploring every corner and find all the goodies. your choice.i think you can speed-run almost every game out there. just boils down to how you want to interact with games

I believe you can go with out uprading any of them but i prefer to uprgrade them

exploring is half the game...if you wanna rush and do the objectives only you will be missing out.

fyi some of the charms etc (especially on harder difficulties) are quite challenging to access so there is a game in itself to getting them

I thought a bit like you at first, but then I tried other spells / enhancements and I found they were surprisingly fun. You should give them a try.

The agility enhancement greatly adds to the game in my opinion.

No, you do not need a single rune or bone charm to beat the game on any difficulty. Blink level 1 is forced on you, but the rest are mostly flavor. But they are fun, unless you're going for the achievement I'd get all the runes I can.
