Dishonored
How long does an average playthrough take?
DISCLAIMER: I don't care if you say length doesn't matter, because I agree. I'd definitely take quality over quantity.

Okay. This is the top of this year's wishlist, and I was wondering how long an average playthrough would take.

I am really excited for this, and I could see myself going for the Clean Hands and undetected achievement when i'd buy this.

How long would it take to:
- Complete the game killing everyone
- Complete the game killing no one (Clean Hands)
- Complete the game undetected (so entirely stealth based)

Well, I just finished this game about 20 minutes ago and it took me 14 hours. I wasn't going for achievements, but this was with collecting as much as I could find and just playing at my own pace enjoying everything. If you're going for those achievements it might take longer than that.

I wasn't going for achievements, although I was actively trying to not be detected and not kill anyone. I like to reload my saves often if I mess up to try and perfectly execute missions and I spent a lot of time just messing around. I completed my first playthrough with about 25 hours. I started again doing a violent playthrough which brought it up to about 33 hours so far. Still having fun with it.
Great. xD

I think to get the most out of the game, you need to play stealthy. They give you the option to play like a super hero if you really want to but I'd save that for another playthrough.

Also, play Very Hard off the bat. It's very doable if you play stealthily and encourages you to not mess up.

14 hours sounds about right. I advise you to play on very hard level if you're going for a stealth approach.
Trust me on this one, I started it on normal like I do for every game I play and after 7 hours gameplay I switched. Surprisingly I hardly felt any difference in the AI appart from a larger detection area. So yeah don't be scared to try it on very hard, it's a walk in the park ;)

i find the game rather challenging even on medium. i dont play very effective i guess. i did not finish the game yet- i have 3 more missions and i´m 17 hours in. i think i did a lot of reloads. i dont get all the bone-charms and runes but most of them. all in all its huge fun and i´m looking forward to the last chapters.

I've just finished off the Pendleton twins non-lethal & I'm up to 14 hours.

I took my time, and ended up about 26 hours. Brilliant game

Game itself? Pfft, Little content!
But, as You Replay to get more outcomes, it takes Much more time!
14 hours here aswell, seems like a rough average. Was swapping between hard and normal diffuculty (mostly hard).

Depends how good a player you are. I've been going mostly stealthy and restarting when discovered - currently 17 hours after the third mission (playing on hard, rather than very hard)

My first playthrough which was non-lethal and no alerts lasted 21 hours and resulted in the clean hands glitch. My second playthough lasted about 8 hours to get the ghost acheivementit and then my last playthough lasted 9 hours which was kill anything that moves and find the paintings. My total playtime was 39 hours to obtain all the achievements and looking forward to DLC to expand the world with some good side stories
Thanks! So average 14 hours, but it has endless replayability.
Quick question: I was under the impression that there were hardly any side quests? How many sidequests are there?
tmwfte Oct 20, 2012 @ 9:21pm
At least one per mission. In many cases the side quests tie in to an alternate play style.

it took me about 20 hours to finish the game.
