yeah, I thought I'd gotten all of them in the kitchen, but was busily stuffing another guards unconcious body into the trash bin there when one surprised me by walking in.... Sadly I had to rip her throat out with my sword.... it made me sad too cause I was trying my best not to kill anyone.
Binge, thanks for reply, I advise that you try the game (New game) with unlimited mana, it really makes it feel like a sandbox then- even with still limited health.
As a suggestion for future reviews, adjust your microphone as I think you had it too close.. it was distorting your voice and picking up breathing occasionally.
Ill try And do better next time.
As for the graphics.... lol. And I supposed the goofy looking people from Crysis, or Skyrim, or Call of Duty, or whatever it is that the kids are oohing and ahhing about these days are supposed to be better? Most games look like someone playing with action figures: almost human looking, but like they are made of plastic. I would be so happy if whoever it is that keeps pushing for realism in games to be taken out back and summarily executed. Why would I want a portrait from WalMart when I could have a Monet or a Van Gogh. 3d will never look 100% realistic, and the closer they get, the worse it looks. I absolutely LOVE the expressive hands and faces of these characters... its like they stepped out of an amazing painted or comic book. If I'm going to pay $60 for a game, this is what I want. I will agree that I would like higher res textures, but the character designs are some of the best work I've seen in the business since the original Darksiders.
As for short, the average game these days is about 6 hours long, so for an action playthrough it is about average. That is not something to cry about. Mirror's Edge is a short game. I routinely beat that game in under 3 hours. I've also beaten it way more times than I should have, so your mileage may very. Still, that would be a short game. And that's not including the stealth playthrough, which will likely have a 15+ hour time, just because of all the waiting and planning that has to happen.
The graphics like in CoD and stuff are probably the things that make them Popular, cause...... well, there ISNT much for story there- in HERE, u really WANT to see what happens next, and u Can affect outcomes, too.
The graphics here IS ugly. And theres a reason for it- Watch my video more carefully this time, Its all in there! I think this game Needs this type of graphics, and again - I explained why with example IN THE VIDEO.
Length- It IS short if u dont complete everything, but the replaying of missions to change story ways can double/ tripple the time. Again -the replayability CAN be improved, but it is there, when you start New game, and it is worth giving a go, as it has LOTS of different little outcomes in the mid- plot.
Any argument about the length of the game is completely unfounded and is normally perpetuated by the dim-witted COD community who think that running towards a marker constitutes playing the game; well, it doesn't. I completed it last night on high chaos after clocking upwards of 21 hours, which leads me to believe that if I was to play it as intended (low-chaos) it would take me over 30 hrs to finish. By rushing through the game you're denying yourself so much.
The review itself is complete trash and is clearly aimed towards non-pureists indoctrinated by years of idiotic shooter clones and other games which dull the mind. I'll leave you with a quote from an RPS article entitled 'Dishonored: The Onion'.
------
If you want to rush around with a gun, shooting anything that moves, don’t buy Dishonored. It has put those things in there for you, and it offers slick, brutal, varied permutations on how to use them, but they are not its all. If you’re looking for 10+ hours of shooting men, or even stabbing men, you are well-served already and forever by games that do that, do it well, and do it for a long time. You and those like you are the victor of the great games race, and you have the spoils, many times over.
So let us have Dishonored. Let us have this one expensive, luxurious game that only truly works, only sings a glorious tune, only becomes a 20+ hour game if met by those who treat it in the spirit with which it is offered. Don’t tell us it’s too short and too slight just because you don’t find combing through its many layers, peeling back every last millimetre of artfully subdued skin, of interest. Because you want to rush to the conclusion, and you don’t believe anything that doesn’t explicitly inform reaching that conclusion is worthwhile.
So, anyone else Got the opinion similar to the one expressed in review? Anyone?
