Flooded District - Always getting detected?
I'm trying to do a no-detection, lethal playthrough. It's going well so far but on the Flooded District level, I always get detected. I don't know when or by who, but when I finish the level, the Ghost box is always unchecked.

I've played it three times now and can't for the life of me figure out what is seeing me. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe it has something to do with Granny Rags? (I've tried both options when I get to her place in the sewers, no luck.)

This is wrong. Edit: I'm not saying *you* are wrong, but that information on Beth page is wrong.

Sweet vid, v smooth and timing on the GR dart. Bit rude tho...to interrupt Slackjaw mid-sentence

Well, easiest solution would be skipping granny missions & slawjack missions during non-lethal / ghost runs. It means you won't get that granny / slawjack mission at the end of mission.

That's EXACTLY the same thing that's happening to me! I'm also doing the same style as you are, no detection, killing everybody. Flooded District has two bugs for me, besides this one in the tunnel, right after you get your gear you enter a room with a bunch of dead overseers, a wheel to open a door and some Krusts at the bottom floor. When i first enter this room, about 5 seconds later, there's a detection sound (there's absolutely no one at the room) and some red lightnings come out at the corner of the screen, i've tried bending time and getting the hell outta there, but even if i manage to cover some serious distance, the sound still plays and i still see the red lightnings at the corner of the screen.

I was able to get around this bug by not going through this door, i just took the way back from the gear and ended up at the same place, without detection sound. So I guess going throught this door triggers a bug.

The problem is this second one, right after the tunnel, the battle music starts playing automatically, and there's also no hostiles in this part of the map. There's no way around this door and i've tried it a bunch of times to no avail. I killed Granny without being spotted, I also tried killing Slackjaw, either way, no Ghost box checked.

I did the same with the rivercrust area, went back the way I came, didn't get the "detected" music when I came out of the tunnel, completely avoided the Granny/Slackjaw conundrum, and I still get no ghost at the end. I've tried it 4 times today and it always says that I was detected somewhere even if I sure that all my takedowns and kills were completely stealthy.

The only thing that's left to me is to try a completely non-violent way, without killing anyone.

I have this problem when I walk into Rudshore Waterfront (after getting my gear back) -- when I enter, there is a room full of dead overseers, but the detected sound and the combat music start playing immediately upon entering.

As I progress through that area the detected sound plays every minute or so (every time I make sure there is no one that can detect me).

Reloading a save game does not fix this problem - does anyone have any ideas that might help?

Hi there.

I know it's been a while since anyone posted something on that topic, but I'm trying to get the shadow achievement on a High Chaos playthrough and I'm stuck at the Flooded District level.

Did anyone actually manage to get the mention 'Ghost' on High Chaos at this level? I was really careful, tried to sneak past Granny and Slackjaw, tried to kill Granny without being seen, and I didn't manage to get that level "ghosted", so to speak.

As some of my foreposters, I get that fight music after I leave Daud's Hideout when I enter in the level section with the train. Is that somehow relevant?

[edit] I've seen too, now and then, some weepers flies flying around me, even if they weren't any Weeper nearby. Is that relevant too? I'll try to avoid such an effect in my next attempt, to see if it changes anything.[/edit]

Thanks for reading!

You had the exact same things as i had. And sorry, but i don't have a solution :(. I finished the game without getting the achievment, got Ghost in every level but this one. Pretty frustrating.

I managed to avoid the Weeper flies on my last attempt, but it didn't change anything.

I guess that getting ghost on high chaos is impossible in this level.

Why are you going for Ghost in high chaos anyway? If you're going for Ghost, do a low chaos playthrough.

Because I missed the Ghost achievement on my first playthrough (I get seen in the first level very likely when I jumped from the bridge, but didn't pay attention to it at the time, as I was new to the game).
So I tried to get it on my second playtrough. Bad idea, as it seems to be bugged.

I broke it. Is that insta detection?
I'm pretty sure it's not insta detection, but it does cause the Weepers around the corner to come investigate, so you have to move fast if you break it.

I have noticed something that makes me wonder if it's a glitch--after you kill Daud and leave his area, and come out in that tunnel in the new area (the section with all the tallboys), the music that is playing is the "fight" music, like when you've been detected. This has happened every time--is it possible the game is "detecting" me for no reason?

Yeah. That room, with the crank to open the door, and the dead overseers, has an insta detection - turning the crank. There's a note somewhere around there written by one of the dead overseers that talks about how, when the overseer squad turned the crank and opened the door, they were ambushed by the Whalers. In fact, apparently that was the turning point of the assault because the assassins were able to turn that bridge into a bottleneck and could pick off the overseers with their wristbows from the surrounding rooftops as the overseers tried to cross the bridge. (Sorry about that, i get too involved with this game's lore, hahaha) Long story short, turning that crank alerts the Whalers to your position and causes a detection. Avoid that door. And the bridge, for that matter.

Smilodon, Not Quite Dead might be going for the dialogues when you play the game in a kind of loose-ghost style. I noticed that when i played through the game killing the main targets, and getting spotted a few times throughout the playthrough, i got dialogues from the characters that was in between the despicable, evil nature they had in a high chaos and the just, regretful nature they had in a low chaos. That might be why he's doing a Ghost in a high chaos playthrough - to achieve that interesting middle ground.

That's beyond me then, I played through the game many times, and I never noticed any "middle ground", just high vs low.

I had that asked of me like 1000 times. I myself had no special reason, no one was doing that kind of playthrough, so I tried it, it was fun.

Haha yes, I thought it was a bug first, but then I saw that note later and avoided the room (had to circle all the way back). I still got the battle music playing after the tunnel though, which I have absolutely no explanation for.

Am wondering if this could be the problem, before when you go to where your gear is there is an overseer crawling across the ground and he puts his hand up to you.Maybe he has seen you before he dies, don`t do stealth myself but just an idea.
