Left Hand/Right Hand are reversed?
Just a quick question..

I just started the game and handed the letter to the empress and when the combat tutorial started i had to re-read the instructions in disbelief three or four times. Left Mouse Click controls right hand and Right Mouse Click controls left hand.

I don't see any topics on this so i'm assuming it's intentional and i'll find out why later? Just took me by complete surprise, first time I've ever seen reversed controls like that.

Thanks!

That is how it is supposed to be. Think about it... Ever played Skyrim etc?

I noticed that too, I just changed my mouse settings. I think its really because the left mouse is the main mouse button and the sword is in his right hand which is his main weapon.

You're joking right? The defense of this game is mind boggling.

I'm not joking. For example, when I swing my sword with my right hand I want to use my trigger finger, In effect my left mouse button. The other way around would feel very weird. This config exist in every PC game I can think of. Only on console is it the other way around

Which is where I expect they're coming from. Anyone who's played a PC game with dual wielding in it wouldn't be shocked by this at all.

I get the use of the trigger finger, but it's more intuitive to use a trigger finger for a pistol or crossbow is it not? This could have been solved easily by just putting the sword in the left hand but was clearly overlooked by the development team (or they are all left handed, which could also explain it)

It is not a problems unless you can rebind they key - other than that it is totally dumb.

This is a standard mechanic for all dual-weilding games, not just this one. I'm hoping you are young and inexperienced, Kidney, because this is very typical and obvious.

It's basic:

1. Most people are right-handed, as mirrored by the on-screen weapon UI.
2. Most PC gamers are familiar with using the left mouse click as the primary violent action.

THAT'S IT.

Sir Digby Chicken Caesar, in your first reply you were just being an @-hole. Hopefully you can admit that. But beyond that, your point was valid - it was just a design decision by the developers to make the sword the primary weapon for assassination, and to regard ranged weapons in the same realm as powers.

Feel free to disagree with the decision, as I think that's a valid discussion, but please don't become part of the collection of @-holes who just insult other people on this forum.

This was literally the first thing I changed about the controls after rebinding ctrl to crouch. Having the left/right hands correspond to left/right mouse buttons just feels natural.

This is only standard in these games since consoles became king.

It's not a big deal though since you can re-bind the keys. I've been re-binding since Bioshock confounded me with having to hit the wrong button for the wrong hand.

Well, the controls are fully rebindable, and as long as that's the case, nobody has any right to complain about the default setup. Just change it. I don't whine about seemingly every game putting crouch on c, when obviously the correct button is ctrl because I can switch it to ctrl very very easily.

This has been around since Duke Nukem 3D, Quake 2, and the first Unreal (although in the latter one you have the option of having the weapon in the left hand or in the center of the screen (a la Doom and Quake)).
So left mouse button corresponds to the main weapon use which is usually in the right hand. This hasn't been changed when dual-welding became available in games.

Luckily you can rebind the keys/buttons so I don't see the issue here, it's just 'how it has always been', and old habits die hard.
Speaking of old habits, I always have to reverse the mouse Y-axis (thus moving the mouse forward=looking down), a relic from good old Wing Commander/X-Wing (joystick) times perhaps :p

I went into this awesome thing called the options menu and rebound the controls.

Yes standard PC control scheme:
Crouch on 'Left Control'
Running/Walking on 'Left Shift'
Character Screen/Mission Objectives Screen on 'Tab' (which is on 'J' for Journal some odd reason)
Use/Interact on 'F'
Jump on 'Space'
etc...

Meh. That honestly depends on who you talk to. A lot of old games have crouch bound to C, and even a lot of modern games do. Ive always been comfortable with left control as crouch, but recently ive really liked C for crouch, although it really depends on the game. Some games I like left control, others C.
