Game won't remember my settings?
Hey, so I'm loving everything about this game, save one thing; Every time I start Dishonored it reverts to default control/graphics options. This also happens every time I load a save (i.e. when I die and have to reload a previous autosave).

I've tried every way of changing the options I can think of, but nothing seems to help. Anyone have any idea why this might be occurring?

I had the exactly same issue. What solved it for me was to load up the game, change the key bindings, graphic settings, etc. Then exit the game and let the game sync to the Steam Cloud, booted it back up and everything was saved. Hope this helps
I have got the same issue... Let`s hope, your hint heps. If not, lets hope they patch this soon.

Best regards!

EDIT: Just checked... The settings are NOT remembered in offline mode... Seems a typical Bethesda problem - there was the sams issue in Elder Scrolls Oblivion ;-)

I did some more research, and the official FAQ briefly addresses the problem. However, they refrence files that do not seem to be present on my machine. I've verified the game cache multiple times to no avail. It would make sense if it was due to steam not being able to change some sort of system file, but that doesn't seem to be it either, as I've launched both the Dishonored EXE and steam client with administrator privelages.

On the bright side, I'm very efficient at changing my settings now. Though a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tips so far
Hopefully we'll get this solved soon!
I found out, that changing the video settings throught the *ini files in the "My Documents Folder" will mess up my shadows - so there is no way for a workaroud for me there. Yet: I managed to change the key bindings throug the "input.ini" permanently - so I only have to readjust the few graphic option...

I hope for a sudden patch though ;-)

Best regards

I had the same problem with this game when running steam in offline mode.

After some messing around I figured out that the game does appear to SAVE your settings to the settings.sav file in the Steam/Userdata folder when you're in offline mode, but it only LOADS your previous settings from that file if you're in online mode. If you start the game with steam in offline mode it always reloads the default settings from the ini files.

I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be an anti-piracy feature rather than a bug and they conveniently forgot about steam's offline mode, meaning the legitimate users suffer, while the pirates have already circumvented the problem... =_=

Unlikely, as resetting one's settings is a relatively minor inconvenience rather than a game-breaking problem. It's probably just an oversight that will be addressed in a patch.

I have exactly the same problem. Still no patch though...
