Dishonored
GOTY edition... really?
Okay, first of all I'm sure this is a great game, I've yet to play it but heard many praises.
Second I do realize at-least this game unlike some that claim a GOTY edition actually won such awards. But I could only find two out of the many major outlets that give such a award at the end of the year.

Journey, The walking dead, Borderlands 2, XCOM: Enemy Unknown among a few others won the award more times than this game in the year of 2012. These ridiculous GOTY editions really should be renamed to something more suitable for example Fallout New Vegas went with the "Ultimate edition". Again while Dishonored won a very small minority of such award it's simply dishonest to slap such a label the game unless it sweepingly won such. You know what also won one the year of 2012? Animal Crossing a New Leaf, now just try to Imagine Nintendo trying to claim it made the best game that year and marketed it as such. Well, that's what is happening here with Dishonored.

Once again I will stress I have nothing against this game. But I am just sick and tired of the marketing practices today where 20 games will all claim to be GOTY some of them like for example Techland's Dead Island never seemingly winning even a single award in that catagory and yet made such a edition of their 2011 game. It's lazy, dishonest, and hubris. I would call it a form of false advertising. Nor would it be hard for the marketing team to make something up for example in the case of Dishonored.

Dishonored retribution edition,

Dishonored full reckoning.

Dishonored finally something good came out of France okay only partly but still freaking France! Edition.

I think it just means the edition with all the DLC.

Without France you still be part of Britian under the Queen's rule.

Also there has been EYE and Remember Me which are two great games by French devs.

Can't be a true french... I didn't see any white flags! (I kid I kid :p)
All a game has to do is win ONE game of the year award to get a GOTY edition. There are hundreds of sites out there, so that isn't that difficult these days.
Shows how much I pay attention, I always thought GOTY meant they included all the DLC and the game was priced lower than had you purchased everything separately. I did not even know they gave out awards for games...

BUT.....long as I can get the game, all the DLC and on sale for 75% off, I am happy...don't care what they call it. All I need is the 75% off now...

No clue if you're serious or not about the awards thing.
Wouldn't be nice if they added a GOTY discounted upgrade option for previous owners?

In the end, GOTY edition is a discounted bundle but more expensive than buying the separated DLCs.
Solved

When a game is released as a Game of the Year, or GOTY Edition, it will often have some extra content. Fallout 3's GOTY includes all of the Downloadable Content (DLC) that was released after Fallout 3 hit store shelves. The same goes for Gears of War 2. Its Game of the Year Edition included all of its post-release DLC, including the the map packs and bonus levels.

However not all games have DLC. Most of the GOTY Editions are simply re-releases of the original game. Usually this is due to overwhelming positive reception a particular game received during the year prior. The games will often preform better in the marketplace than their initial releases, as GOTY Edition has become a sort of code for "Better Value Edition". For example, if someone has gotten rid of a game for whatever reason, or hasn't played it at all to begin with they might be tempted to buy the GOTY Edition if the perception is that it's a great game with free bonus content.

GOTY Editions are also beneficial for the developers, since not everyone has the ability and/or awareness to purchase and/or download DLC. If developers can manage to get their post-release content back onto a disc and into stores, they get their content played by people who would otherwise be unable to do so.

Additionally, simply having a new version labelled "Game of the Year" may be enough to convince people on the fence about a game to pick it up, so because there is no actual rule or law about what publishers call their re-releases, it isn't entirely unheard of for games that were never actually named "Game of the Year" by any publication or website to release a Game of the Year Edition. Such cases include Worms Reloaded, Two Worlds, L.A. Noire, and Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns.
People actually cared about GOTY? I thought that was just a really bad running joke with no brakes.
Those of us who pre-ordered at full release price (which is now the GOTY price) should get the GOTY. Just sayin'

Not how it ever has, or ever will work. That's just greed.
Discount DLC, im not complaining.
You pre-ordered because you wanted to play the game early. I opted to wait for a better deal, and here I am, still waiting. Haven't even touched the game and I consider this GOTY edition to be my compensation on the wait, you on the other hand, has already played the game way ahead of many people and want more?

I assume it was a joke... but, if the shoe fits
it's just a name and I'm pretty sure they actually won a goty award but I think they deserve it because it's a new IP and it was largely succesful
