Dishonored

Why is my Knife of Dunwall Chaos so high?
As a veteran to the original Dishonored campaign, I decided to try the Knife of Dunwall. I wanted to run it low chaos first, but there was a problem at the end game screen. I only killed three people (on accident, from the explosions in the factory), got a ghost ranking, yet still got a high chaos rating. Wondering what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on right now, and how to fix it. Was it one of my special actions?

Special Actions
Put down the captive whale
Destroyed the slaughter house
Looted the watch officer's safe

EDIT: Alright, ran through it again with your suggestions and got low chaos this time
Special actions (for who gives a ♥♥♥♥):
Put Down the Captive Whale
Shipped BUndry Rothwild to a Remote Island
Freed the Detained Laborers
Completed the Granny Rags Recipe
Looted the Watch Officer's Safe

Lol yeah it was your special actions. You can't honestly expect to blow up a building, killing about 30 men in the process of the explosion, and get low chaos. Don't put down the captive whale either. Not sure if that contributes to high chaos, but i did'nt do it in my low chaos run.
Well, yeah, but there are two reasons I think you're wrong. One, if you blow up the building, not many people die (Abigail evacuated the buiilding), and Ramsey would hire them under better conditions. Also, in the main story, special actions didn't affect the game THAT much, to screw up someone who only killed three people. And as for the whale, that was an act of mercy. Either way, let's assume it WAS me blowing up the building. Whats the low chaos alternative?

Knock him out, Interrogate him then either leave him unconcious or ship him off in a crate.

So it was my special actions? Darn, I liked the motive behind blowing up the building.

Game sees killing the whale not as act of mercy. Instead it sees it as means to get the whale eye for granny's demonic ritual. Whale eye and weeper corpse to get the 5th rune.

Even though it uses the words "out of it's misery" and "act of kindness?" Whatever though, I get the point. Be smarter about what actions I make.

I excuse myself for any mistakes.

though as far i know killing the whale does not count as a kill. I killed it colected all runes and did my nice "Ghost and cleaner hands" run. And to why blowing up the factory brings high caos: Guards gota investigate less guards on the strees= easier riots and curfew breaks meaning the plaque spreads easier + the whale oil production goes down which again would help the gaurds keeping order. So yes blowing up the factory sounds nice becaus they would get better working conditions but you still have to bear in mind that it is through out a plaque and thus it is not the right time to start a revolution.

Actually, I never thought about any of that. Thanks for the insight. Still no idea why that screwed up an otherwise near perfect run through.

My plessure to assit others. If you wnat suggestions for creative and crazy kills just tell me. I once wrote a pretty long thread but i can´t seem to find it. It was a few pages of how to kill someone in strange but still creative way´s

Altough you dont get the kill for killing the whale all Granny's quests seem to be inherently evil and help spread the corruption and plague. She is really not the nice old lady.

Yes she is not the nicest but from what view? We don´t see alot of the bottle street gangs activity´s. We only see them selling their Thinned down elixer which could lead people to believe they can traverse an infested area without getting sick only to end up being sick. Furthermore as you listen to the 3 gentelman callers infront of her home they state that "whatever you got slagjaw gets a cut" Which again is not the nicest thing. and as you can see they also locked up the trader who did not seem to be afflicted by the plaque but rather becaus they wanted his stock. All quests of ranny rag are against the bottle street gang which again has to be considered if the bottle street gang are actualy nice or actualy not so nice. Also the killing of the whale is mercyfull considering it hanging there with one eye already missing and its belly cut open. the wheeper is already dead so that is not a big deal. Its all a thing of how you look at things. They can be shiny and a certain old woman can be shady. Or they can be A bit more shady and the old rag just tries to get rid of a group of thugs which during the plaque might be helpfull but after the plaque still interfeer with the law. Considering this in the long run taking care of slackjaw might be a good thing as for the group of thugs stops doing illegal things including the time after the plaque.

Well, cooking Slackjaw is pretty damn evil in my book. :p

I took the side of Slackjaw. The only Granny Rags quest I did was the Gentleman Callers one, I left the still alone and I didn't cook Slackjaw. Kinda reminds me of Prototype 2, how all those Mercer infected (or touched by the Outsider in our case) hated each other.

I can confirm that destroying the slaughterhouse still allows low chaos rating for the mission and the DLC!

In addition to turning the four valves I saved the locked people in the first part of the mission, ended the whale suffering and performed witch ritual (I did not save the boss since you don't need to question him, Abigail tells you about Delilah when you blow everything up). I also got 2 deaths (from explosions) and 4 bodies found (when you turn the valves new enemies appear). All this resulted in low chaos rating which is good since I absolutely had to burn that place :) The deaths obviously voided 'cleaner hands' achievement though.

Fun side note: at the beginning of Brigmore Witches after importing a savegame from Knife of Dunwall where the slaughterhouse has been destroyed you can overhear two assasins talking about a possibility of selling your head to Lord Regent because of an outstanding reward he promised after he learned of the explosion.

You can destroy the slaughterhouse and come out with low chaos, I just did it. Went through with no kills, 1 alarm rung (from the valves), 2 dead or unconscious bodies found (from sleep darting groups), and 2002 coins found. It took a while, because I choked out everyone and stashed the bodies in places where they wouldn't get blown up, you get the salvage when doing this to the butchers. A few more come out after you start opening the valves.
