Dishonored Installation Problems
I purchased the Bethesda Collection today for 90$, mostly because I wanted to play Dishonored and the other games that came with it looked to be worth the extra money. However, when I attempted to download Dishonored, Steam did not present disk space or estimated download time. I pressed download, and it was completed instantly. This is because I appear to have only downloaded one file, installscript.vdf. The button in the Steam Library that said "Install" now says "Play", but when I press it, User Account Control asks if I will allow Steam Client Services to make changes to the computer. Say yes, and it attempts to download five files as part of "first time setup", then I receive an error: Failed to start game (missing executable). Selecting "No" for SCS brings me directly to the error message.

I have been searching for an answer for a while now, but the specific problem does not appear to have been seen. I do not want to torrent anything except as an absolute last resort.

Please comment with any suggestions.

Downloading pirated software is indeed illegal. Also, p2p applications (BitTorrent, Gnutella, etc.) used to download most pirated software make you part of the chain of distribution. Distributing pirated software is also illegal.

Not exactly. You cannot use the files without a valid key/activation. If you want to bypass that, then you need the use a crack. I merely copied and pasted the files over to my Steam folder and restarted Steam and it worked. I got my first achievement a few minutes ago as well.

I also didn't distribute the files as I have uploading disabled

Although this sort of situation is why torrenting is useful, I would still prefer to avoid using a torrent unless Valve completely ignores the problem.

Must be a bundle purchase error.

I just bought it ( like an hour ago ) and it downloaded and works fine. But I just bought the one game, not the bundle.

Suks you guys have to wait until it's fixed though.

But now after buying it I'm having mixed feelings about it...kinda dated looking.

Really, what size is Dishonred for you, for me it only installs 5.3 yet I thought it's ment to be 9 gb and when I sent a ticket to Steam, along with the error message I get that shows Steam is not installing the product properly, they ignored me and gave me a run around. Just want to know if it's in fact an issue on my end or Steam is indeed screwing up the instalation.

I'm having this exact same problem, I've bought the bundle today and I've tried to install Dishonored countless times but none of them worked, always this "missing executable" problem. I wish they would fix this soon, I'm really looking forward to play

Me too. I've so far downloaded Morrowind and Oblivion without a problem, but when I tried to download Dishonored, I had the *exact* same problem.
