Dishonored

Why Dishonored disappointed me in hindsight.
You know i love the setting and the art direction and everything, but the core game mechanics somewhat disappointed me.
I played the "normal" Stealth kinda way without much "Magic" Spells and i got bored really fast. Always the same "Kill animations", no enviromental Kills like they did it back in the "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic" Days.
Taunting seemed glitched, i threw out a few Bottles for distraction at npc´s but they just glanced over to the direction and didn`t move, only muttering a few words. I mean come on, what the ... even Far Cry 3, for example, did the Sneaking Part much better and much more rewarding then Dishonored handeled it and FC3 is a 3d "shooter" unlike Dishonored.
They should really incorporate a more varied gameplay for the "non magic" users, like Crates on ropes which could be cut and droped onto enemys and that sorta stuff. And the AI is ... i dunno if there is actually any sort of belivable ai, i played on Hard and i could just wait in one position and shot everything down and the Enemys approached me all from the same direction even they should´ve seen all their dead comrades. That doesn´t add up for a good and satisfying gaming experience.
I can´t understand why the game got a metacritic rating that is over 90, not with such flaws. I really hope that Arcane will up the ante on the next installment of the series cuz i really love the setting and the art but the game mechanics must be up to that.

What would you like to see in Dishonored 2, anything that you didn´t like? Let me know and join me here, i´m eager to see what people like or didn´t regarding the Game.

Thanks.

Honestly, yeah, the stealth is kind of meh. I think a lot of people were excited simply because it's one of the few games that allows you to play it in a "Thief-esque" fashion, which has largely disappeared from video games.
Personally, I think the full-on combat was a tremendous amount of fun, so if they sequel this sucker, they should focus on non-lethal gameplay variety and choices. If they do that, then they could have a genuine masterpiece on their hands.

I also felt this game was a bit overrated. I never really had any other reason to use anything except blink. I feel the freedom the game gives you to play how you want keeps you from experiencing different ways to play without multiple play throughs. I rarely used ranged weapons or gadgets. It was basically blink and blade. I also dont like the idea of the city getting worse and having a bad ending. But going through the entirety of the game knocking people out and then blinking my way to the next person. I also found that the AI was flawed. I knocked out the first guy you have to eliminate and brought him to the room branding chair but was discovered and had to hide on a light fixture above the chair. For maybe 6 minutes I was sitting there waiting for all of the guards to leave. They would search and then give up instead of trying to help him. When another guard walked in the room again they would be alarmed by the guy knocked out on the floor as if they had forgotten about him entirely. It was strange AI behavior that I have never seen in any other game before.

I have to respectfully disagree. The whole premis of the game is the stealth and "indirect" aproach to things. They're are plenty of straight forward shooters out there if that what you want.

Please don't turn one of the best STEALTH games to come out sense Thief and Deus Ex, into just another shooter!

I get so tired of games that only have the option of running out into a hail of bullets and hope you can kill all of them before they can fill you so full of holes you can't survive any longer, even in an unreal game type situationl.

The city getting worse and the bad ending are only because you chose to kill your way through the game.
The way you play through the game, directly affects the tone of the city, the way people interact with you and the endings your presented with.

The more you kill, the darker the game. You get more rain, more "weepers", and more rats! The NPCs also start relating to you in increasingly negitive ways. And the endings get darker. There are several endings.

The less you kill, the brighter the endings.

For a real challenge, try going through the game knocking out all enemies without killing them and without being descovered... at all!

Or, maybe you really just didn't like this game and don't wish to see another one.

If you can't tell, I loved it!
