Dishonored

Is Dishonored a RPG game?
Knowing Bethesda Studios, it's rare for them for making a game which doesn't enter in the category of "RPG games".

It's hardly an RPG. I guess you could give it some RPG elements but that would be stretching it. It's more of an action / adventure game.

Which RPG elements?

Bethesda didn't make that game, they published it.

You can for example upgrade your powers, go the way you want them to.

You choose how you want to beat the game, like in a lot of RPGs, also, some freeroam.. like I said, it would be stretching it.

It is an immersive sim in the Looking Glass style, which includes games such as Thief, System Shock, Ultima Underworld, Arx Fatalis, and Deus Ex.

Immersive sims focus on emergent gameplay through rich simulations and player agency (freedom of choice in how to approach problems). Although Dishonored's simulations are generally not as deep as some of the examples I just gave, it is an extremely polished and approachable example of the genre.

Well, I played Deus Ex and enjoyed of it, I guess I'll give it a shot before the deal ends.

Fun game, multiple solutions to the task, but rpg? Nope.
I think Dishonored was just published by Bethesda, and no it's not an RPG, but it is a damn good, immersive game with a novels-worth of lore hidden throughout the levels, and multiple ways to complete objectives.

It's not a RPG. It has a story line with NPC characters and scripted cutscene dialogues that will send you from point A to point B. For me this game is more about the travel between objective A to B then the story and the character you supposed to be in this game. I am 10 hours into the game (a lot of sight seeing) and still don't give a pooh about the story. The gameplay is mostly about sneaking around, looting, stealth take downs and enjoying the scenery. And I enjoy that gameplay very much!

Important to know also, playtime is actually really short (especially if you are looking for an RPG)
All in all, I had the game beat in under 10 hours while taking a "completionist" stance on it. This doesnt include DLC

10 hours is probably on the low side as many people are getting WAY more playtime. I got about 18 hours for the game and knife of dunwall combined. I could have easily taken a few more hours total but my ADD kept me from reading everything.

I wish Fallout 3 was as fluid as this game. Everything about this game is executed properly. Very enjoyable. Now if they could use these mechanics with a Fallout or Arma (much bigger than Fallout I know) sized map. Wow

I was playing the game, and my main complain is that Dishonored is not an "open world" like Fallout 3 or New Vegas, and it's divided my "levels", not like Fallout which you have to travel XXkm for talking a person and get a quest to do.

Otherwise, the fluid thing in the game is pretty good, like you said. It's something good, but I think the game will have to do much to impress me.
