Very true its all perspective
When I played, I tried to follow the characters' personalities - Corvo wouldn't kill innocent people, while Daud was ok with it.
There was a funny moment when my frind played the DLC - in original game he spared Daud, but then he played DLC at high chaos. So, when corvo came he was like "Ahahah, look at my saves, you won't touch me :)" Then he found out that the original saves don't matter in this case :D
The same goes for the fight with Corvo. First of all, who makes a fight like that as an intro? You can't even make a proper save, so you have to reload the whole intro to replay the fight. And on Master Assassin he kills you with one blow, while your crossbow keeps shooting marshmallows and your sword does about as much damage as a stick. That's cheating, okay? Throughout the game you can shoot someone in the knee and they will fall. Tried that with Corvo. No joy. Why? Anyways, after a number of unsuccessful fights I decided to cheat as well by fighting Corvo on Veteran and then bumping up the difficulty to Master Assassin again. And why the heck not? If game devs employ dishonest tactics to make the game harder for you (whenever they feel like doing so, I might add), why can't I do the same?
I meant it figuratively, of course. What I did mean is that the overseers you deal with in the last mission of the KoD are different not only from the ones you meet in the main game but from all the other guards in the KoD DLC. More alert and perceptive, harder to take out. I beat the main game on very hard with no powers or other aids, and I did notice that change.
The problem with Corvo is that on Master Assassin you can't afford to miss a single blow, while the damage you do remains medium at best. You get five bolts (which hardly do any damage to Corvo) and a sword (which shadow creepers never use throughout the game). And some of your usual tactics don't work on Corvo. So how are you supposed to beat him? It feels like they have maxed out his skills and abilities on Master Assassin, while you remained the same and did not get to collect your gear prior to the fight. They actually weakened you, while making him next to impossible to beat. The way I see it, It's just not fair. But that's just my opinion.
prior to the fight. I just got sick and tired of exiting the mission, starting a new game, skipping
the intro, watching a cut scene you can't skip only to die a few secs later. So not worth it.
That's what happens when you include a boss fight into the intro to the very first mission when
the default mission save itself doesn't exist yet. It's just too much of a hassle to replay.
Btw, I found only one YouTube video that shows how to beat Corvo on Master Assassin. One!
For a game that boasts hundreds of walkthroughs or guides. I failed to find a Master Assassin
walkthough that shows Corvo's defeat. Some people fail, while others just let Corvo slay Daud
and move on to better things. I don't believe all those hardcore guys are incompetent, so there
is indeed something fundamentally wrong with Corvo fight on Master Assassin.
Anyways, sorry for my long-winded comments. Had to share my frustration. Have a good one.
the fight was rant-worthy.
peace.
Also, beating him is totally pointless, if you do it on lower difficulties there is a video sequence where Corvo counters your killing blow and beats you anyways.
I easily defeated Corvo on lower difficulties. That's how I got the Parting Shots achievement. I did see the video sequence, but in my case Corvo blocked Daud's attack, but Daud grabbed Corvo's blade and thrust at him with his sword. Job done. Corvo defeated.
Also, if you want to see someone beat Corvo on Master Assassin, find Zevik's walkthrough of Dishonored, he DOES beat Corvo on MA. This is the link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLNnZTUBk7E&list=PLBz-8qkNkY370nhILSBsZZai1stjHCabK&index=22
Thanks, mate. I'll check it out. I've seen his playthroughs but never really watched them.
