If your chaos was low, upon seeing Havelock just shoot him with whatever projectile you fancy, or blink behind him for backstabbing/choking.
I've heard of some people who have been able to talk to havelock and take the key without him resisting at all, but I'm not sure what the specific circumstances for that are and I've never seen it personally, even on completely non-lethal runs.
There have been sequel rumors for as long as the game's been out. From what I know, it wasn't planned that way (having separate endings makes at direct sequels pretty awkward, see Bioshock). I think I saw an interview about that while the game was newer, but it was a long time ago so that may just be my memory being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Bethesda has shown interest in making Dishonored a franchise to cash in on the game's success, which exceeded their expectations.
There have been a few hoax "anonymous source" leaks, but last I checked no official sequel has been announced, and people assuming there will be one is mostly speculation based on the fact that they haven't actively denied a sequel, and haven't announced or released anything else. This was reinforced when they squashed the Prey 2 rumors, so Arkane hasn't been working on that either (or at least, isn't anymore).
My hopes are up, against my better judgement, but Dishonored 2 is still not officially a thing yet.
There is so much really interesting 18th century British Empire espionage history available that I think that that would be quite the stealth/combat game with this type of semi-steampunked enviros. And since the BE was international the maps would be varied by nation and individually unique. You listening Bethesda. :D
This is my feeling as well! I'm worried that the decision to "franchise" Dishonored will focus too much on the current cast. I like a lot of them, but they're not my favorites, and regardless, their stories have all been relatively wrapped up, and re-opening their storylines could be messy (especially the ones who have a high chance of being dead). I also don't want them to do the bioshock thing and cheapen the choice of endings by making only one canon.
They did a lot of solid world-building in this game, and I'd love to explore more of the locations that we only get hints of in this game. Serkonos and Tyvia especially have the possibilities of dramatically different architecture and costuming. I'd love to see how they pull the visual references from either of those places' real-world inspirations into this game's art style. They have so much great stuff to work with. Could be challenging, given that the whale-centered theme lends itself exceptionally well to influences from industrial Europe and the northeastern US, but I'd love to see them try.
Also, I'd really love a more compelling villain than Hiram "kill the poor because I don't know how economics works" Burrows and Delilah "take over the empire with no real hint of what I want to do with that power because that's what villains do I guess" Copperspoon.
