Mark 'theory'....
I wonder.... Does the position of the mark on an induvidual have an effect on the kinds of powers granted? All of the powers given to Corvo and Daud seem to be 'active' abilities(Ones that have to be cast) with some passive abilities given on the sides(Vitality, agility etc.), and once i heard that other characters(outside of Daud and Corvo.) aren't affected by Corvos powers(and therefore are probably marked) but many of them don't have a mark visible.....

If someopne was marked on their head(amongst the hair probably), then would they get more powers todo with knowledge, persuasion perhaps? That could be mostly/ entirely passive?

If someone was marked on their feet/ ankles, would they get powers based around their position, movement or perhaps an AoE kind of ability? That could be activated by use of the feet(stamp, kick, scuff etc.)?

Or how about a mark over the heart that allows absolute perfect disguises?

Thoughts on this idea? There's probably a few holes in these ideas, but It's surely worth a thought.....

I'm pretty sure everyone's marked on the hand, so it might be a moot point, really. Three of the six known marks are seen on the hand, and Delilah's mark isn't visible, but is mentioned by one of her underlings. Granny wears gloves and the last mark is only briefly mentioned in a book, but I think it's reasonable to assume they're also marked on the hand. I think the powers have more to do with the marked person's personality and the whims of the Outsider.

I think there are only two unmarked characters with immunity to Bend Time: Billie Lurk and the Royal Interrogator, and the source of that immunity seems to be that they've had power shared with them by a mark, and are for whatever reason exceptionally receptive to that power.

I would say that the mark is the Outsiders stamp only and not related to the powers he gives to each beyond that. I'd say equally that the outsider doesn't distinguish between the quality of the character of those he percieves as exceptional. He allows free will. For example, he holds Daud responsible for his decisions and for allowing himself to become a pawn in the violent affairs of the elite, while at the same time allows Granny rags to continue in her attempt to recoup her social and financial losses by doing away with Slackjaw and taking over his criminal enterprise. Though we never learn to what extent Granny will use that organization in terms of good or evil. Same with Delilah. from palace baker to evil manipulator who intends to control Emily once she is on the throne. But to what end? As it is when the Outsider sends Corvo amongst them all. He leaves it to Corvo to decide how he will contend with those whos agenda stands between Corvo and the rescue of Emily. How he chooses to use the powers given him by the Outsider. Low chaos or high chaos.

The powers he confers on each seem to me to vary with the individual to some extent. All the players have some of the same powers but not all of the same powers. I always imagine that as an outsider the Outsider is looking for that one individual who will use the powers he recieves for the greater good. In Corvo's case that seems to begin and end with Emily Kaldwin and her future as Empress of Dunwall. Which makes Corvo the least personally effected by having been gifted extrodinary power, as Corvo never works to become more than that which he began. Lord Protector.

Nietzsche said, "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster."

I think they stated in the game that the characteristics of the powers are fitted towards the personality of the bearer of the mark. Some people who don't bear the mark (the torturer, emily, piero) also have visions of the outsider and some even inherit some degree of power. For example, the torturer was an apprentice of granny rags and can use the pull ability. Maybe this is some sort of arcane bond between granny rags and the torturer since whalers have also abilities of the outsider through daud. Emily for example can't be possesed by corvo and piero creates things for corvo on the command of the outsider. We can also see that an arcane bond is very important in this matter since delilah has some sort of arcane bond and so has daud and maybe granny rags towards the torturer. Anyways the ways of the outsider are not yet known as of the first game so we can't really discuss this matter any further.
