Dishonored
Having issues using an Xbox One Controller with Dishonored
Hey all,

On my PC, I've been using an XBox 360 controller to play Dishonored for some time. As of yesterday, I own a shiny new XBox One controller!

Initially when I load up Dishonored, the One controller works fine. But after about 2 minutes or so, the game will stop taking input.

This also occurs for Skyrim as well.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks!

that seems related to the drivers or something. did you try updating them or reinstalling them?

I should note that no other game does this. It's just these games.

i see you also have it happening with wolfenstein? is there a game where it does work fine?
i have no idea about controllers and googling this issue aint being helpful either but if it happens with 3 games id say its something about the drivers not being quite right

Are there driver issues with 360 controllers? I thought the driver was supplied by Microsoft and built into Windows. I don't have one, so I don't know for certain. I use a Logitech F310 controller that is detected like a 360 controller by games. I don't recall installing any drivers manually. I believe it was plug and play.

Sometimes my PC will detect mouse movement and Dishonored will switch to keyboard/mouse input. When I do anything with the controller it switches back seamlessly to controller. Perhaps it isn't seamless for everyone and you get stuck in keyboard input. It's a wild guess, but maybe try unplugging the mouse before playing.

Oh wow, I completely misread/skimmed the OP and missed the Xbox One part. My apologies.

Other game seem to work fine so far. Titles that work:

Warhammer 40k Space Marine
Half Life 2
Portal / Portal 2
Ryse Son of Rome

I discovered my issue:

I had the Xbox One controller plugged in to a non-powered USB port. The controller was "going to sleep" a few moments into gameplay, it seems.

When i switched over to a powered USB port, my issue went away.

Huzzaaaaah.
