But, it depends on your accumulated chaos score*. By mission 7, if you've killed enough hostiles to put you on the verge of high chaos, then killing 50% of the enemy in mission 8: Loyalists, will likely put you over the limit and give you high chaos. On the other hand, if you've not killed anyone by the time you get to mission 8, you could kill all 19 hostiles and still have a low chaos rating.
* The game calculates Chaos progressively and there is no way to know what your overall Chaos rating is until you see the end-of-mission stats. Your accumulated rating is determined mostly by number of kills but, other factors enter into the equation, albeit to a lessor degree, like times detected, alarms rung and bodies found. There's also a positive affect on Chaos if you save someone like the woman with the elixer and the overseer's sister in mission 3.
and no alerting enemies does not give you chaos. they could have given it a better name maybe, but chaos only refers to amount of kills you made (or that happened because of you)
Well, i just got Chaos High without doing a single kill. Knocked a total of 3 Guards out and threw them into corners. That´s all.
Which mission did you do that in? I gotta try that. Sounds like fun.
Secondly, the mission before Pendelton. Maybe i killed some weeper tho :D
If you leave bodies on the ground, rats will eat them most of the time and this counts to High Chaos, also, they can drown and die from falling too. About them noticing you, guards say that if they find someone unconscious or if they hear some noise, but nothing about doors, at least from personal experience, because I tested many things, like leaving objects around, broken stuff too, opened doors and they never reacted.
