What makes it special is that it gets the graphical ehancements that the PC ver enjoyed but the prev gen consoles did not.

change the xx to tt, because steam don't like links!
A few weeks ago I "tried" Dishonored goty but I kept getting some very frequent dll´s crash to desktop issues... I don´t know if it´s caused by being an old game (DX9) or it was because I was "just trying". Thing is I´d really want to play this game, also to make way for Dishonored2.
Does anyone know if the above mentioned is a known issue with a solution for today´s players? Or did I lost this wagon?
Thanks, and be well :)
What do you mean exactly by "tried"....? I see you don't own the game, so if it was a try before you buy the not-so-legal way than there's not much I or anyone else can do to help you, on the Steam forums. If that was the case then the crashes were MOST likely due to it being a pirated copy...
I do know for a fact that there is nothing wrong with this game if you buy it and install it through steam. I think I payed $5 for the GOTY version in the last sale, MAYBE $10, I can't remember. I already had it for xbox 360 and I had played it a couple years ago so I wasn't willing to spend a lot to get it for PC, until I played it again and realized just how good it is. Great game, worth every penny.
1) Several of the wall textures have bump mapping applied to them to make the walls stick out of the surface. Same with the cobble stones on the ground.
2) The floor reflection in the main hall of lady boil's mansion mirrors the hall in real time and isn't a generic blocky reflection found in the last gen and PC versions, and characters also have reflections. But it's only in that one part.
3) Many of the textures actually look more detailed than the textures found on the PC version. These textures on PC resemble the last gen console version's textures more with slightly more definition, whereas on PC/xbox 1 they seem to be redone to some extent.
I am sure I'll see more difference as I get further.

And yes - I bought Dishonored with all DLC for 1/8 Definitive Editon price...year ago.
I think this definitive edition was made for people who have upgraded to the new gen consoles and would like this game in their library so they don't have to switch back, as well as for some new gamers who might not have played it before. Plus the consoles are still STARVING for games, aside from Bloodborne and a couple other odds and ends there's not much.
So I think they probably just slapped this port together, changed a few minor things, and did the best they could do with a DX9 game from 3 years ago in order to make a few bucks and to get people psyched for Dishonored 2. I'd be interested to know if they even make much off of the work they put in to porting it...
Yeah, they did they best with DX9 game what works and looks 10x better on GTX460 and Intel Core i3 and still is DX9 game...

GTX970, Intel Core i5, 8GB Ram - It looks like next gen compared to PS4 version.
