Why not go straight to the non-lethal+ghost world record for inspiration? Doesn't get any faster than that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlRQVSe7mBM
It also shows off some interesting glitches/tricks, like the elevator jump (to climb high walls), going out of bounds in a couple of places, and dealing with the High Overseer in a much-faster-than-usual manner.
If being sneaky and clever is not to your liking (and it sounds like it's not as you want flash and nifty gadgets) then go nuts and enjoy all the cool killing tools and abilities. Being a ghost and clean hands is in itself a challenge and interesting, but it's far from the only way to play.
Who cares about faster? Take your time and enjoy the game it was meant to be enjoyed. Why play a game just to show off your e-peen and glitching abilities? Wall hacking and speed runs don't really care about the game or the story. If that's what the OP wants, then by all means. But, if you want to enjoy the story and the difficulty of the game, don't do this.
And, as an aside, it can be done faster than this. This guy wasn't paying attention half the time. I know he has the WR, but he could have shaved seconds off in multiple areas. He's impressive, but he can do better.
The reason I posted it was that there's a lot to be learned from the run apart from the glitches, not to discuss whether or not speedrunning is a legitimate way of playing a game, but I want to clear out some misunderstandings here.
You clearly don't understand speedrunning if you think there's hacking and e-peen measurement involved. First of all, he runs a completely unmodified Steam version of the game. Second, people enjoy games differently, and it's not like Fripic just randomly chose to run Dishonored. No one speedruns a game they don't enjoy in the first place. And, finally, if you think the NLG speedrun is easier than taking it slow then you're horribly mistaken. At many points during the run he could lose minutes from dying or getting detected because of a single bad blink or from being just a tad too slow. If you had any idea of the amount of practice that goes into such a run you'd probably be a little more appreciative of it --- or at least a little less dismissive.
Yeah, he could have saved time in some places but that's pretty much the nature of single-segment runs. There's almost always a theoretical possibility of improvement, the problem is making it actually happen during a run. With the sheer number or things that can go wrong during such a run it's virtually impossible to get the elusive "perfect run" that all speedrunners dream of.
Just saying if the OP wants to enjoy the story, don't do what the guy in the video does ;)
I understand what you meant guys, I appreciate the assistance.
I ended up killing 25 or so guards in my first playthrough, and 9 civvies. Here's to a better run next time.
Haha, no worries. And you're definitely right about that.
Powers - Blink Lv2, Agility Lv1, Dark Vision Lv1 and/or Bend Time Lv2. Do not waste runes upgrading Agility Lv2.
Bone Charms that are really helpful(from top priority) - Strong Arms, Swift Shadow, Fleet Fighter, Blood Ox Heart, Void Channel (DLC) , Spiritual Pool/Water of Life and Acrobat.
