Is Daud actually a good guy?
Because at the end of a DLC.The Outsider says Daud saved the empire...

Well.. He spent most of his time killing nobles constantly before. He seemed to really regret his ways after killing the empress. So, a baddie turned goodish.

I wouldn't necessarily say he's a bad guy or a good guy. I think the term anti-hero fits him best, especially if the playthrough is a high chaos one. Low chaos Daud strikes me as jaded, tired, and regretful, but not necessarily a guy who wants to save the world for the sake of it, but simply to right the wrongs he's done; it's not a purely selfless goal.

He is a very bad man seeking redemption. Not necessarily absolution. The mythical entity [God], the Outsider didn't offer absolution. Daud would have to seek out someone with in the Abbey of Everyman, an Overseer of some rank for absolution. If he didn't run. He's broken all of the State's religious tenets playing to the will of the Outsider. The Seven Strictures pretty much scream, "stay [the expletive] away from the Outsider".

I just finally finished the Brigmore Witches, and I've gotta say that I like Daud a lot. I usually take a "Business as usual" approach to contract killers in games, just like I do with Agent 47, for example, so Daud just seems like he's making his living in a different way than everyone else. Instead of being in a position of corrupt power where you use the Lord Regent's resources to protect yourself and to make a living by harming others (Barrister Timsh, for example), Daud used the Outsider's mark and made himself powerful.

Sure, killing all these nobles is a pretty bad thing to do, but I'm alright with it. We can see that he seeks redemption for his actions and that when he's truly done wrong, he knows, and he sets out to correct it himself.

Pretty good guy, I'd say. The DLCs really added a lot of personality to him beyond the whole 4 minutes he appears for in the base game.

I still don't understand why he kills alot of nobles (including the empress). I've searched the wiki but can't find anything related to his past (could be the purpose of his action). Is this all about money and reputation?

He gets it from his mother, and probably a little from the mysterious actor who abducted him as a child. [In a journal detailing different manifestations of magic, Daud notes that, contrary to rumors that his mother was a witch marked by the Outsider, she was simply proficient in the use of poisons and hallucinogens, *** and ruthless in their administration ***.]

According to the official guidebook, "Ego homini Lupus" ("I am a Wolf to man") is Daud's motto.

Daud is "The Knife of Dunwall". Read the book The Knife of Dunwall, A Survivor's Tale.
