The canon ending is that you murdered everyone. Literally everyone. Even Emily. The girl in the trailor isn't real. This is all a projection of your mind. How could you. You monster.
Though why do you say he's "expected to murder everyone"? Who's expecting this? Corvo is certainly a vigilante, but whether or not he's a hero depends on what you made him do and, additionally, whether you think those actions were heroic. Even if you're not killing people, the non-lethal endings for some of the characters are pretty horrific.
Also, if you're going by trailers, non-lethal playthroughs wouldn't make for a very interesting or exciting trailer and trailers are meant to build up hype. Non-lethal stealth games can be tense and exciting to play, but they're almost never interesting to watch, especially not as a highlight reel.
That's not entirely true. Smith said there is a canon ending based on the developer's choices. They just haven't said what all of the canon choices are. Though it is confirmed canon that Daud is spared and Emily survives, for example.
One video has Delilah appear in a scene with Corvo. Apparently that was confirmed. No mention of Daud and he's not on the D2 character list. Though, neither is Delilah, so...maybe they are given brief cameos?
I will be the first to admit I was not there when the developers were deciding to make Dishonored 2, so I can't say why it was made. However, I didn't say her survival in Dishonored 2 is canon. I haven't played Dishonored 2 so I don't know what happens there. I said it's canon that she survives in Dishonored. The fact that she's in Dishonored 2 is evidence of that fact, which was an example of the larger point that there is a canon ending and a set of choices that the developers view as canon in Dishonored.
Just because Daud survived Dishonored doesn't necessarily mean he'll show up in the sequel.
Hey, whatever works for you, man.
Do you mean that there's no cannon?
There's a high-chaos ending where Emily dies.
Exactly!
Well, I've not had the special experience like you have to play all of Dishonored 2 already, so I can't say what the entire game is about, but yes. Her survival is canon. I'm glad you've figured it out and we can agree. It's so lovely to be on the same page with you, Daddy.
