Dishonored 2 - Void engine (modified ID Tech 5 or 6) - performance concern
Hey,

I'd like to ask you guys what do you think about the fact that it will have pretty much the same game engine as these:
Rage, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, The Evil Within ?

Is it going to be a game that uses higher than normal CPU resources or is it going to be GPU heavy - or might it be a fair balance like with most games?

Weird thing is that for those games the minimum requirement is like an i7 but people with much lower end CPU-s ran it just fine (but the graphics card requirements are somewhat on the low end and gamers with higher end GPU-s than required had performance issues, interesting), so I cannot draw a conclusion based on those "facts" as they seem to be inaccurate and inconsistent.

What do you lot think about the idea (fact as proven by the watermark parent company of Arkane Studios, Zenimax's trademark "Void Engine powered by Id Tech") of Void engine being a modified version ID Tech?
What were your experiences with the games I listed, did you have any performance issues such as unusally high CPU or GPU usage?

Was this engine they used in DOOM as well, because if so that engine gave me no problems at all

Well that is Id Tech 6, when the development of Dishonored 2 started Id Tech 5 was the most recent one as far as I'm aware.

Plus Id Tech engines seem to improve a lot with every version, which means that even if you were fine with Id Tech 6 (Doom) you might have issues with Id Tech 5 :/ .

I'm curious why this isn't on the Dishonored 2 forums, but with this being a modified version of Id Tech and the game not being out I wouldn't feel comfortable making any claims about its performance.

Dishonored 2 forums don't seem to be as popular as this one, so I thought I should probably try here.

As of performance of Dishonored 2, I was just wondering how did Id Tech work for most people as me myself coulnd't find much info about it.

Everybody kept telling me for Doom, made with the iD Tech 6 Engine, you need a minimum of a Quad Core processor.

I can see a lot complaining, but I've never had that much of an issue. Quake 4 I'm having an issue with the way Raven programmed the game. I can't get rid of low textures on a Nivida GeForce GTX 750 Ti,

Wolfenstein TNO runs alright even on my weak laptop.
Arkane puts passion into their games and they always try to delive their best, for console players and PC players alike. So I truly trust them in this

The DOOM [4] engine prevents Stereoscopic 3D from working, and my concern that if the game is linked to that engine, my rig and every other buyer who uses Stereoscopic 3D will be crippled for that facility.

Its like if you all buy VR, and then the game companies stop making VR games. You like that?

Yeah, but interviews with Mitton prior AND after that say 5. I suspect him saying 6 was a slip of the tongue. 5 also makes more sense based on when development of the game likely started. Heh I also think the interviews where they talk about what percentage was kept also involved Mitton using 20 & 30 %. I guess this is what happens when you interview the Art Director about the game engine.

Also, like I said there is an interview with Mitton (developer, art director) saying it's based off Id Tech 6 and that they kept 30%, did you even read the comment you replied to?
