Q about Art Dealer achievement

Would I be able to just pick mission by mission and collect all paintings? I am only missing a few from my previous gameplay and I really dont feel like playing through the entire game again just to get 3 paintings.

When you say "same playthrough", do you mean from first to last mission in a row?

I played through a few times, missing some paintings. I went back to Mission Stats and found 2 missions missing paintings. I restarted each mission from their beginning, not a game save, collected the missing paintings and continued on in the mission until Samuel and I arrive at the Hounds Pit base- completing the missions. Now when I check Mission Stats, I count 11 paintings.
But no Art Dealer Achievement Award.

Exactly. If you started from the first of the 2 missions where you missed a painting and went on from there (doing the subsequent missions after) and getting all the paintings then you would have got the achievement. It works that way for all of the whole game achievements, if you see in the stats screen right after a mission that you missed something you wanted or did something you didn't want (like a painting for art dealer or that you got seen if you are going for ghost or whatever) you can replay it and it will be part of the playthrough but if you just go through to the next mission then that state (missed a painting, got seen , killed someone, whatever) will be saved into the beginning of the subsequent missions. Just re-doing the missions where you missed a painting seems to be right (looking at the stats screens under missions) but actually the save you brought into the next level (after the redo) still says that you missed one.

Thanks Rod66. I started a new game from start. I went through to mission 2 before checking mission stats, and every mission still shows the collection totals 11. Now I use the Guide (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=121271447&searchtext=paintings) to tell me how many I need to find becuase now I won't know if I miss any or not without the guide.
I gather it's the only way. Thanks again.
