Disclaimer: I don't actually own my own console, I use a friend's. I know that it's not really worth the price to get a new console just to save me some hassle, but I'm thinking about picking up a used console from the last generation.
1- It's easy.
2- I'm not locked in my office at home all day, I can play in the bedroom while my wife reads or looks at her laptop.
3- I don't have to upgrade it every couple of years to play the newest games.
4-I use my Xbox a lot to stream netflix in our bedroom instead of having to connect the laptop to my tv
5- I have a lot of friends that don't play on PCs, so we can all play on the Xbox if we choose to do so.
6-My PC is in my office, where there is no tv, so sometimes I like to play games on my flat screen instead of my computer screen.
7- I'd rather play on PC, but like I mentioned previously, I enjoy both for different reasons.
Hope that enlightens you. :)
Console Gamer: We have better graphics. *insert pic here*
PC Gamer: No you don't, here's a screenshot from a mere $450 computer. *insert pic here*
Console Gamer: Geez, you elitists care about nothing but graphics.
PC Gamer: *returns to playing CS 1.6*
Console Gamer: *returns to playing CoD: Ghosts*
Dishonored on the xbox is always 25-30 FPS, Yeah screw that buddy you can never tactically play or speedrun or anything without terrible lag on a GAMEPAD. Stick with PC Guys.
That's fine. My PC is 3 years old and I do the same. That's not really the point though. With my PC I always end up upgrading ram or gpus or sound etc etc etc, with my console I bought when Xbox first came out, I speant $49 on a wifi attachment. :)
I'm usually using my computer and the consoles that I do have are collecting dust most of the time since there's no point in turning them on when I have stuff on my computer. And there's definitely no point in paying hundreds of dollars for the ability to walk across the room and play a game on a different machine that I could have already played on the machine I already have.
True, but that argument works both ways. Nowadays, most people don't need to invest in a computer that can run modern games; between smart phones, tablets, and integrated graphics on laptops (don't even pretend that they're the same as a dedicated card), the majority of people can get by without a gaming capable computer. In that situation, it makes just as much sense to get a console as it does to get a more powerful PC.
That's also true. I never got into portables though. I predate the smartphone and never got into it. I just don't see the point. When I'm out somewhere, I'd rather be doing other things. I actually don't want to take all the technology with me. So I still like a dedicated computer with a nice big screen and a keyboard that I can sit down at, and also walk away from and leave behind.
I never really wanted a smartphone, but then I got one about a year ago and it's been exceptionally useful for managing my professional life without being tied to a computer all day. Which yeah, does cut both ways, because people send out e-mails and expect instant responses.
I think the big thing is you don't need a firm, flat surface for a controller, you just hold it in your hands. This allows you to move freely and sit wherever/however you want.
I can't see why can't you use plug a controller to a pc?
It really doesn't work both ways.
When buying a laptop buy one that can play games or one that can be upgraded to play games.
With a console you still need a tv and those can easily double the price.
