Dishonored keeps crashing and I don't know why.

every time I try to play dishonored on my account it crashes the furthest I've gotten is to the menu were it asks for a button input but just as i get there it crashes, I've tried what feels like everything yet still doesn't work it works on my other account but some of the DLC assets show up as missing, I'm sure it's not my pc that's the problem as I was at a friends house once and logged into my account and it still didn't work. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution to it?

Are you two perhaps using Windows 11? It recently updated and has caused some other problems among another of Bethesda's published games, Fallout 4...

I think this problem started for me before windows 11

Are you using a computer that has other people also on it? Are you on the correct Windows account? Your firewall whitelisting all of Steam and its games? If you say that "some of the dlc is missing" you're not on the right account - probably on Steam, a lot of people forget that they don't have a game or have a 2nd account. Did you family share the game and forget that you don't actually own it?

my computer has no other people on it to my knowledge, I am on the correct windows account, firewall is whitelisting, it doesn't say that dlc is missing and when I play on my second account the game works but the dlc's have missing textures (specifically the Daud dlcs)

Have you verified the game files using that specific account?

You might try putting a 2nd Windows account on, and using the other steam account on it? I don't do multiple windows accounts myself so honestly I have no clue, but it's something that MAY help? I'd verify the files first though, and see if that works.

Are you restarting your computer or at least Steam between playing on one account and then the other?

i have verified on both accounts and on my second the textures are still missing, and for the second windows account does going to a friends house and logging into my steam account using their computer count? and yes i am restarting the computer.

I have win 11. got the 22h2 update and nvidia driver update last week. had issues with fallout 4 and skyrim se but NOT this one. I uninstalled Fallout 4 and reinstalled which got the game working again. perhaps try uninstall/reinstall.

also go to folder
Documents\My Games\Dishonored\DishonoredGames\Config
delete the .ini files

then try the game

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still didn't work and deleted the .ini files

go to the game folder then run the dishonored.exe from there and NOT from your steam library or an icon. sometimes an error msg appears not hidden by steam.

check windows event viewer and windows reliability history. might be a game crash event or system related errors. some kind of error msg would help

The only reason mine crashed was having steam cloud turned off. If you keep it off Just temporarily turn it on if you keep it off, open dishonored make a save or whatever then exit. Then just turn cloud off then remember to redo this if you lose save/settings. (is only needed for first startup)

hi, this is my second account, the game still crashes without an error message so if i cannot find a solution that works i'll just use my second account which dishonored works with
