Dishonored
Bloodborne vibes?
It's awfully similar, another dimension only a select few can go, a plague, a city built on the ruins of an ancient civilization. The use of oil/blood from supernatural entities, an organization with a religious structure. Kinda reminiscent.

Well, Dishonored pre-dates Bloodborne by about two years, so Dishonored came first. However, I don't really see the two as all that similar. Bloodborne's gameplay is closer to Dark Souls than it is to the stealth of Dishonored. Dishonored gives the character a personal reason for their quest, whereas I never really get that feeling from Bloodborne. Besides, Yharnam always gives me the feeling of a civilization that's on its last legs and can't really be saved, while Dunwall can still be brought back from the brink. Besides, with most cities that're old enough, you'll find the remnants of an older civilization underneath them. Take London, as an IRL example; there's an old Roman fort under there.

Not accusing either of stealing, and the gameplay is completely different spectrums. But they both have a grimy atmosphere (similarities already noted), but I suppose the same could be said for the first Bioshock. Besides, thinking about it reminded me of some of the details in BB.

tbh more games should be like bloodborne lol, but yeah like the other guy said dishonored was first and they are far different in terms of gameplay and storytelling

Well nothing in bloodborne gave me dishonored vibes.

Dishonored came out 4 years before Bloodborne. Both games draw on Lovecraftian themes but I'd say Dishonored has much more detailed and fleshed out lore.

Dishonored is more about the player than Bloodborne.

I just don't see it. A lot of games have similarities in their settings, but they don't remind of one another. I don't get any BB vibes from DH or vice versa, but hey if you do, then great i guess.

Maybe bacause both are based on Victorian age with the plus of pagan things and plague everywhere

Let see, The Black Plague and H.P Lovecraft inspired monsters, i mean, Bloodborne is not such original, you know?

And what you mean with "Ruins of an ancient civilization"? Dunwall is just an actual city for his time, ruins of what? you are playing the same Dishonored than everybody else?

You getting everything wrong, the whale oil is just used for humans like petroleum, not a "Liquid-for-demon-invocation" The Outsider never used that oil, he don't need it.

Not even the Brigmore Witches uses whale oil.

And where is the religous structure? there anti-paranormal things, not cristianity fanatism

The Whale's are in the void which means they have some unknown supernatural qualities that were hinted at.

Dunwall is built on another city (again hinted at in notes)

Normal whale oil doesn't work the same way as it does in Dishonored, which before its discovery made Dunwall an incredibly simple civilization.

The religious structure is less religious than superstitious, the witch hunting and destroying "occult" artifacts.

When I say I get BB vibes I don't mean the entire game as there are so many differences, but I drew some similarities. Where as BB has a constant oppressive atmosphere, DH does not.

At last Dishonored 1 never say something relationed with The Outsider and the Whale Oil (idk about D2) but still, there is a bunch of things on the void for be sure the Whale Oil had that function, maybe you refering with the Bonecharms made with Whalebone, what in this case yes, they had a relation with the Void and everything else, but there is nothing about the Whale Oil, and still, there is bunch of things there in the void to give all the credit to Whale oil.

The Whale Oil follow the same logic as Steam in the Steampunk genre, just works in his universe, not in real one.

Yeah, its built on another city hinted at notes, i forget it bacuase the end of the day, the game is not caring about that fact (Not at all)
