SweetFX, ReShade or both?
Hi,

I'm new to this game and I literally love the gameplay and the story. However, the graphics look really old and low in my opinion. So I searched for graphics improvements and I always heard about SweetFX and ReShade. I know SweetFX and that it's a post-process injector. But I've also heard about ReShade and that you can use both at the same time.

First off, I'd like to know what ReShade actually is, the website said it's also an post-process injector but why should I use both then?

When I looked for SweetFX settings / profiles on the database, I figured out that there's a column that indicates the used shader. Most of the profiles use a version of "SweetFX" (e.g. 1.3 or 1.5) but a few ones have "ReShade" in that column. So is ReShade after all some kind of shader for SweetFX or a standalone programm and these profiles were just made for ReShade?

Sorry for these questions, I'm obviously not a pro in terms of that stuff. But I'd highly appreciate it if somebody who knows something about that stuff could answer my questions. Thanks.

The art style itself is probably what you're looking at - and it's ugly. The entire game is meant to look that way. However it is the way they actually meant you to play it. I can't say what the reshade or other programs might do, but... I'd suggest googling it or asking in their forums (I'm sure that either of those products have forums, I would be very, very surprised if they didn't) for much better info.

ReShade is a better, more flexible and more easily customisable than SweetFX. I'll suggest you to only use ReShade.

So it's basically the same, just more accessible. Can I actually use SweetFX settings with ReShade?

I don't know, the settings file are not the same so i'll guess for a no.

Thank you very much. I've figured out that I also prefer ReShade 3 and decided not to use SweetFX for now. The great thing is that ReShade allows me to adjust every setting in game and on the fly without having to restart and copying stuff from file to file. However, there are a lot more presets for SweetFX, since it exists longer. I've also heard that the developers are working on converting SweetFX presets to ReShade 3 presets.

I think the same, but with a little practice and knowledge, you can do a good setting by yourself. That's nice ! :47_thumb_up:

Yeah, SweetFX is awesome but the constant copy+paste and drag+drop as well as the restarting are a little bit to much for me. Really looking forward to converted SweetFX presets

neither; overblown blacks are the new emperor's clothes; doesn't look as good as people convince themselves it does.
