Non-Lethal Tallboys?
Is there a way to take down Tallboys non-Lethally?

Nope. Can't choke 'em and sleep darts don't work on them.

Cyberwiz maybe you can me figure this out, I was going for a no kill stealth run. I got Shadow but not Clean Hands or Ghost.

In the stats menu for each chapter I have zero kills and the check mark for no killing in every chapter. I choked out the zombies under the Hound Pits Pub. As for Granny Rags I threw her cameo in the furnace, unlocked Daniel Day Lewis, and let him kill her while I hid in a corner. Not only did I not kill anyone all game, but I went out of my way to avoid everyone and only did chokeouts as a last resort.

I have no clue why the game is saying I killed someone, let alone where and who it thinks it might be.

If you leave somebody unconscious & rats eat him.. It will count like kill. You need to hide bodies so rats won't be able to get them.

Ultimately, Tallboys should be the last enemies standing in the world even if you choke out everyone else for their coin -- assuming you're going for Stealth/Nonlethal. The only benefit of killing a Tallboy is getting a single Incendiary bolt.

Sorry but, that's not true. That absolutely doesn't count as a kill.

Your method of dealing with Granny and Slackjaw, while entertaining, is a bit risky (Slackjaw only wins about half the time). I applaud your courage. However, this is one of the very few situations I haven't tested for achievements. I know that it won't show as a kill in the end-of-mission stats so, I assume it's okay for the achievements as well. And, the reason I'm able to confidently assume this is because I have tested other situations where, it was claimed, could result in no kills in the end-of-mission stats but still negate the Clean Hands or Ghost achievements. In all those tests, I disproved such claims and I always got both trophies. So, I really don't believe that would be the problem here.

Having said that, there used to be a bug where sleep-darting Granny would count as a kill, but was fixed in Patch v1.7 However, who knows what other glitches might have survived. I'm reluctant to call your problem a bug but, I can't entirely dismiss it either.

Although, there's one possibility that could be misleading. When checking your stats, it is of course, best to check them at the end of each mission, as you play it. That way, you can replay the mission immediately, rather than come back to replay it later, which will not work for the achievements. Those "whole-game" achievements require you to meet the conditions during one, contiguous playthrough.

The problem incurred by many players stems from the fact that, checking stats from the Main Menu MISSIONS* selection, will reflect the last time you played that mission, even if it wasn't part of your "achievement" playthrough. For example, if you play the whole game but went to the MISSIONS* stats and mission 3 didn't have a checkmark for "Didn't kill anyone", then you replayed the mission at that time, it would update to the newly replayed stats but that doesn't change what the "achievement" playthrough recorded at the end of the final mission. So, all your MISSIONS* stats might have "No detections" and "Didn't kill anyone" as checked but the achievements are not updated. Simply put, you can't play a mission out of sequence, is all.

To be sure something like that hasn't happened, look at the LOAD list from the Main Menu and make sure all the missions that are preceeded with MISSION - have date/time stamps that are all in chronological sequence, including any other entries in between them. If not then, to get the achievement, you'ld have to replay the first one that is out of sequence and play all following missions from there on to the end of the game.

Did that. Believe me after reading the horror stories on this forum, I was eyeing that stats screen after every mission like a hawk.

I always reloaded from a previous save and went from there.

Yup all my saves are in chronological order.

I really really have no clue wtf is going on hear and its frustrating.

Neither do I, at this point. All I can say is, if you want the trophies, start a brand new game and do a minimal playthrough, only completing the primary missions, and don't even talk with Granny in mission 2, which of course avoids the Granny/Slackjaw confrontation in mission 7. I wish you better luck, next time.

only way to deal with them non-lethally is to use piero's arc pylon in chapter 8

Well, I suppose that is a valid point. But we mean in general. So, if you're going for a stealth and nonlethal approach, they're the enemies you should avoid at all costs.

Thanks for clarifying, I was here asking myself how to get the non-lethal approach on tallboys. I was wondering if I had to remove those whale oil flasks on their backs, but so far no luck. I might as well just give up trying to get them stealthily myself and just use the blueprint for the ark pilon

Edit: I just realized when giving them the blueprint it is given the option to the potency of the ark pilon - killing or knocking out - for anyone else that was wondering like me

Did you kill the weepers under the hound pits pub? They aren’t technically part of any mission, so they wouldn’t show up on your final score, yet they count against the achievement. Even if one just rolled into the water and died when you knocked them out, that’s probably what cost you your achievement.

Increasing unconscious body count in the INI file fixes some of the random death stuff.

The values were for older machines you can literally choke everyone out now and no body will disappear.
