Burglar expert safe code

This must be staring me in the face but i am having trouble with the safe code on the DCT Burglar expert challenge. In normal there is no code but in expert there is and there is a note with what seems to be a cryptic verse that this game loves to embed safe codes in and it points you toward the middle section where the empress' portrait hangs (and you have that really creepy bit with all the busts of burrows (brrr). Anyway there is a variable number written low on the wall in that section and I guessed 3-3-2 my first time and it worked (the number (3) between floor 3 and 2 (where the number upstairs was 3)) the most recent time the number was 8 and no combination I could fine would work. Anyone have an idea before i go at it and try everything?

update: I have found the second number in the middle section so that makes this easier it would be good if someone could advise where the third number is: I have the ones on the wall (low) and above the windows.

Just try the combination with all of the third numbers. Put in the first two and then cycle through it until you hit the right one.

Yeah, as long as you get two numbers you can just guess the third.

Here's the thing with three-digit combinations: It's elementary statistical and probability analysis, and it doesn't take that long with a sequential brute force attack. You don't need to find all the clues or solve any puzzle. Start with 000, go to 001, and so forth, until it opens. It will take you ten minutes tops. I do this all the time.

Four digits would be a very different story. That could take a few hours. Five digits could take you days, or a couple of weeks.

…! But, if you have the first two numbers, it takes only SECONDS. Just try all ten variations; the safe will open automatically when you hit the right combination.

Super old by now but if anyone else has issues I found third number if you look through the cracks between the number bellow the window it's on the brick wall outside
