Shooting lord shaw with a sleeping dart

So I just did this, when he invited me to the duel, instead of using the pistol, I used the crossbow with sleeping dart. He didn't die, but the guards said "Another patron dead" and apparently the quest did not fail, and I won the duel. What?

Yeah I got the same many years ago when I tried. Never finished to find out if it counted as a kill though, just reloaded the save and shot him. Let us know the outcome at the end.

Got Clean Hands while still winning the duel that way, personally.

You're right that the reactions dosn't change, though. Was a bit nerv-wrecking.

^ I concur. It's a valid non-lethal solution to the side quest. It doesn't count as a kill for Clean Hands or Ghost.

yeah, it's a bit annoying that there doesn't seem to be a second set of reactions when so many other things have alternate reactions. What I find really bizarre with the duel is that Pendleton doesn't change his reaction, I mean you've left Shaw alive (and probably champing at the bit to take Pendleton out) and Pendleton gives you the same reward with the same speech.
