Ghost- Overseer and always 1 dead!
I've played through many times. Recently, I decided to try for Ghost and Clean Hands. I escaped prison A-OK, and made it through #2 - High Overseer Campbell. Killed no one, left every choke, and made sure they were "unconcious", on a solid platform away from rats. None fell through any items. After 4 tries, there is still 1 hostile killed. but certainly, not by me. Is this a bug or do I have to start from the very beginning and escape prsion, and ensure no kills in Mission. 2? I did find that just darting Campbell, putting Curnow in the "safe place" didn't bring Samuel to th emeeting place, so I went back, killed Campbell, and Samuael showed ip. It can't be that it is is Campbell because he is the target. So where casn the one kill be?

Note: I replayed the Mission after each time it showed 1 kill. I did not use Missions > Replay.

(The following assumes that, on each playthrough, you assassinated Campbell.)

Killing ANYTHING but hounds, rats, and river krusts counts as a kill! So, even Weepers count as kills as well as assassination targets, civilians, and, of course, guards/witches/whalers.

The nonlethal option for Campbell is to sleepdart him and then carry him to the Interrogation Chamber and strap him into the chair. You can then find the Heretic's Brand on a desk in the small alcove overlooking the Interrogation Chamber and brand him. That will cause Campbell to be kicked out of the Abbey and conclude his nonlethal elimination.

Just sleepdarting him and leaving him is not elimination. Think realistically. He would just wake and go back his evil-doing. You're out to either end his life or end his career.

What sometimes helps heaps is watching someone else do a playthrough. As they may take a totally different route. Although you think you don't kill that one person always approaching from the same side causes the same action.
I watched a master thief "prenatual youtube" do a Stealth speedrun, clean hands, ghost, no powers, no blink, no choking anyone.

If you finished the escape mission with checkmarks for both "Didn't Kill Anyone" and "Ghost (Never Detected)", you're good for that one and don't need to start over there. Just replay mission 2 (Campbell) until you have both items checked at the end of mission stats screen.

Understanding that you're going for Ghost and Clean Hands achievements, there are two ways of dealing with Campbell. As mentioned, the branding solution is the most common however, you can get Curnow to kill Campbell for you, which will NOT count as a kill against you. But, just remember to grab Campbell's journal before leaving Campbell's Secret Chamber or Samuel won't be at the dock.

Where could your 1 kill be? If you verified each of the unconscious bodies and didn't leave them until they were stable (not moving or shaking at all), then it's not likely someone slid down stairs, slipped off a roof or into some water. And, no need to worry about naturally occurring rat swarms. If they eat an unconscious body, it will NOT count as a kill against you.

The first possibility that comes to mind is if you rewired a wall of light on Clavering Blvd. If a guard walks through it and dies while you're somewhere else, it will count as a kill and you wouldn't know it.

If you render someone unconscious near a damage source, they could be killed. Be careful around any open fires.

If you close a door on the head of an unconscious body, that can kill him, although it's rare.

When going for those achievements, I usually recommend avoiding contact with anyone and finding the high ground whenever possible. Stick to the roofs and ledges, using Blink to your advantage.

Wow. Great help from everyone. Thanks to cyberwiz97, Eternie, and Mr.Falconscript. With the help, I was able to determine it was that I killed Campbell each time, as it seemed the right thing to do. It was the mission after all. I did what Mr.Falconscript suggested and placed him on the Interogation chair and branded him there. And voila!. 0 killed.

I have done as Eternie suggested and watched videos, and beleive I have seen the one referred to. I prefer not to watch too much, spoliers and all, and I like to try to find my own new ways, to me. Believe me, I only give up and ask for help if I have no hair left to pull out :)

Thanks everyone.

At the beggining of the mission when you've got to pass through the first 'electricity wall' (I don't remember the name) a group of rats try to walk through it and die, but if you get the whale oil before that they will pass and kill 1 guard, so if it's true what mr. falconscript said you may have a problem on that part (yes i'm answering a post from 8 months ago that has been already answered)

You shouldn't feel the need to state that because there are those of us that welcome addional information anytime, regardless of it's age. It's great that you take the time to chime in now and then.

Hey, I had the same problem and It would seem that when you are trying to save a girl from being killed because of the witchcraft one of the overseers is on the stair and when you knock him out he will fall of the stairs and die xD so make sure you chock him and carry him up! :D

He guys, trying the Clean hands achievement myself and I haven't killed a single person; also did Campbell the non lethal way, so what's happening?? Only thing I can think of is at the last stage of the mission at the back yard, if you enter one of the buildings there's 3 overseers who decide to kill one of them because he's sick, does that count as a kill because I didn't stop it? I'm gonna have to do the entire mission again.

I'm not sure about the 3 overseers, that could be possible. I didn't go into that building in my ghost run.

But I'd like to offer this great mod that allows you to check Stats mid-mission, like in Dishonored 2. It's very helpful for ghost/clean hands.

Good luck!

Ethereal Bacon the only things that add to your killing count are things that you do. Watching those guards does not cause a death unless you attack them or unless you cause one of them to die.
Same as if you watching someone get eaten by a swarm of rats isn't attributed to you unless you caused the swarm by summon the rats, that then would count as a kill to you.
It's all common sense really.
