At which chapter/point in the game do the exclusives upgrades unlock?

I'm already at chapter 8, with 2 weapons fully upgraded but I still can't seem to be able to buy their exclusive upgrade... am I missing something?

I believe somewhere early to mid castle they introduce an ticket item in the Spinel section that allows you to unlock an exclusive for a single weapon for free and even if you haven't fully upgraded the gun yet. The item costs 30 spinel's. You also get a second one on the island for 40 spinel's.

I also remember tier 4 and 5 upgrades for each category unlock towards the middle of the castle, right after the hedge maze if I remember correctly. I forget though if they allow you to purchase the exclusives then though. The merchant mentions that he ordered better tools which allows him to upgrade weapons further.

soon as you run into first merchant in castle lobby before first encounter with salazar, its available

You can buy an exclusive upgrade ticket as soon as you get to the first Castle merchant, while you don't need this ticket to get the upgrade, this is when you should have access to upgrading to the exclusive upgrade as well via money.

I already did that but can't see any options to get the exclusive upgrade for the first shotgun :/ I'll check some video

Are you sure you maxed out the newly given upgrades too? You can't max out your weapons in the Village section since unless you're playing on certain difficulties, it will limit your upgrades until the Castle.

Yep, maxed out the handgun and the shotgun but I can't find any way to upgrade the weapons any further. Maybe the game bugged out? See my screenshot below, I just took it

You didn't max it out. Soon into the castle you'll be able to buy lvl 4-5 upgrades, and only after that you'll have access to exclusive upgrades.

Those are not all the upgrades, there are 5 upgrades for each category, you might need to make a bit more progress to be able to do it, but I thought they came into play at the same time

During the Castle the Merchant will get tools to upgrade your weapons in each spot 2 more times, unlocking tier's 4 and 5. The guns not maxed out till you upgrade everything to 5.
