Sword Puzzle
Is it me, or are there absolutely no clues whatsoever to this?

Did the devs include a puzzle that the only possible solution is trial and error or looking at a walkthrough???!??!

Not only is there a clue, I feel like it's pretty obvious lol. Look at the slots and determine where each sword is appropriate. Like, obviously the one getting killed gets the bloody sword, etc.

Posts like this are why games like Myst don't sell well anymore

Where is the "clue" that I missed then?

Basic context clues from the types of swords and the pictures on the wall.

Took me less than a minute once I had all four swords.

Wow! Aren't you very very clever? As for me, I can't see why a rusty sword can't stab someone.

Each one of those pictures could have any one of those swords in them.

No, I just don't immediately give up when something doesn't beat me in the face with the solution to a puzzle.

Ok. Then tell me why a rusty sword can't stab someone and I will bow to your infinite intelligence o wise one.

A rusty sword can stab someone. But that's not what what the images are about.

Look at the images and the types of swords. When your options are rusty sword or bloody sword, there's absolutely no logical reason to put the rusty sword in that slot.

Context clues aren't complicated.
OP, the puzzle is pretty easy and there are clue... if you take it with too much philosophy then obviously it dosen't make 100% full sense... but it's just a simple logic puzzle, nothing too crazy... you can criticize it, but... it's pretty simple, when i got the swords i immediatly saw the solution at the speed of light...

However, no one has described the logic behind this puzzle, so I think I'll do this to show its logic, even considering it's pretty obvious (in my opinion). An iron sword means a good weapon for a knight, it's a basic weapon for a warrior of those times, and a good knight will keep his weapon in good condition, so it fits the knight better. A gold sword means nothing in terms of battle, but it is a good example of wealth and luxury, so it is suitable for a king. A bloody sword obviously means that someone has been killed or wounded by this weapon, so a picture of a battle is an obvious choice for it. A rusty sword means that this weapon has not been cleaned or held by anyone for too long, so the obvious choice for this sword regarding its condition is a picture with a grave, and this sword is "dead" like its owner. The logic around the weapon and the knight ties these 4 pictures and 4 swords together, and that is the full story of this knight.

Like I said. ♥♥♥♥ like this is why no one buys stuff like Myst anymore. Too few people want to think about puzzles in games.

Yeah that's the sad reality, I too want more games where puzzles are difficult, but they are really rare..."too few people want to think about puzzles", I know... I've seen that a lot of times, never see the comments on a puzzle walkthrough on YouTube... I've done that, and It's... Sad

Stuff like this is why your companions in some of the more recent games will basically tell you the solution after 2-3 minutes have passed.

Even here, Ashley attempts to do a backseat gaming by going "Wait, the artwork... Doesn't it look like it's telling some kind of story?"

Now imagine them try solve the Piano puzzle in Silent Hill 1 or the V-Jolt one in RE1.

What I always find mindboggeling is, that Games these days have to tell you even the most obvious things.

"Oh no, a big scary Monster appears. What to do?"

"Mission Objective : Kill the big scary Monster" appears in big, bright letters on the screen

"Thanks game. I´ve never thought about that"
