Hardcore Mode for RE4 is not for "people who played the original."
I like Hardcore Mode in this game so far, but it's ridiculous for Capcom to recommended it for players of the OG game. It's ridiculously challenging and CHEAP compared to the previous remakes.

In the original game, you could blast through enemies without caring on Professional.

In this game, I can't wait to lose all my hair during my Professional run.

How is everyone else finding Hardcore and Professional?

I find hardcore to be pretty much what I'd expect from "hard", I die but I'm not getting stuck. Similar to the very first time I played the origonal.

Hardcore feels hard but fair, least to me. Granted I wasn't good enough to do professional on the original game, not sure about this one. Hardcore feels just right to me though, tough enough that it puts the survival part of the game into enough focus. Constantly low on something, but in a way that makes me approach encounters a bit differently than just blasting everything with the shotgun or something.

Having finished my first run on hardcore yesterday, I don't think it's ridiculously challenging. My problem was trying to play the game like the original multiple times: headshot -> kick -> headshot -> kick which obviously doesn't work here. In this case you either stay further away and shoot as much as possible or stay close and get better at parrying. Currenlty doing my professional run and so far I don't see too many differences between it and hardcore as long as I follow either of the playstyles I just mentioned.

I also found the description of Standard and Hardcore difficulties a bit misleading. I did beat the original game on Professional a couple of years ago and I'm pretty sure it felt easier than this. RE2make's hardcore also was nowhere near as intense. Still having fun though, but I might have chosen Standard for my first run if I knew what was coming in advance.

Hardcore sure get easier after the 1 part of the game, since you will have most weapon upgraded e more concrete knowledge of the game(just finished the shack fight and was a good challenge) but i must say for the moment im having fun with it, didnt have any real problem(most death were for bad positioning or bad movements or trying to parry and get swatted) is it called"hardcore"for some reason;anyway which part are you struggling with? Professional sure will be a brutal challenge :pointless:

I heard people saying this so I chose standard but honestly standard is ridiculously easy so I kinda regret not choosing hardcore, or is it really that much of a diff between standard and hardcore?

Didn't even bother with the descriptions. I clicked "Hardcore", I expected "Hardcore" and I got exactly that - "Hardcore". Couldn't be any more simple.

It's fine and ammo is not that hard to find

hardcore is pretty much exactly what I expected from the re2 remake. also the game dumps health items on you all the time, its fine

dunno man, I tried both and hardcore seems the one to go if you're not out for a walk in the park but not THAT hard, especially compared to the hard mode of every other RE, so it's the one imma reccomend to everyone. I think it's fair (at least till chapter 4). Everything below seems to be for those who want to relax and enjoy the story

Played the original on professional and re2 both 100% completion and agree with you the game difficulty doesn't make any sense, I am getting stuck on some stupid places. People browsing the discussion are addicted so naturally they will disagrees with us.

Also there is a huge difference between playing with a controller or M+KB, I think it makes more sense to play Resident Evil the way it was intended, but on the mouse its REALLY easier and the game difficulty does not consider that

With how aggressive and hard-hitting the enemies are in hardcore, it just means you are guaranteed to die at least a couple of times in an area you are unfamiliar with. But other than that it feels challenging and balanced. Of course, I can have a much easier time breezing with mouse and keyboard, but traditionally I always play with controller for my first playthrough.

Hardcore is "you mess up or get careless you'll die or be left with a sliver of health, play well and use all the mechanics and weapons you're given and you'll probably get through."
For instance the hammer guys, they will hit you down to 5% health if you screw up your duck or if you don't see that beartrap a villager will get a hit in and take off a 3rd of your life.

Hardcore mostly feels like "no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ammo ever core" to me. I'm at the Luis cabin fight and I'm pretty stuck. I start the whole thing with 7 handgun rounds. I have 3 weapons fully upgraded and still have 130k pesetas. I cannot remember the last time anything other than money dropped for me.
