Just checked the original and he also had an accent in that one, difference is that he doesn't sound overly excited but more like what you'd expect from a soldier I guess.

I can understand being dofus in a more serious game but in the OG, everyone acted dofus and Mike more serious. So that was a contrast as well.

Definitely. The OG RE4 was more of a B Action Horror film. Everything was corn.
