I'll assume this is a troll since there were female villagers taken over and would fight you from the start of the game in the original, so it makes no sense to make this post, on top of the fact that if you are going to have female characters fighting or trying to survive then bad things can happen to them, so the opposite side of that makes perfect sense too.

I wouldn't say that line was a "joke". Leon was just pointing out that the Ganados don't discriminate (i.e. differentiate) based on sex, they'll brutally kill women as well as men.

They are forcefully being controlled by an entity being implanted into them regardless of if they were alright with the implanting of it in the first place. Well Leon doesn't know anything about the plagas at that point, it was right at the start of the game. But regardless of that, all I was saying was that that line probably wasn't intended to be some kind of humorous quip on Leon's part, much like lines like "he's not a zombie" or "looks like they've killed a lot of people". They're just dry observations of the situation around him.
