Strange and concerning complaints from the community

Wanna start off saying that as a whole, it seems like the community is very hyped for the game, which is great. However, it seems like there is a select group of people that have some strange, and concerning complaints with how the remake is being created and advertised, so I wanted to give some opinions on that. TL;DR - People are too creepy about Ashley, the voice acting just needs to grow on you, the comedy isn't as bad as people are making out.

The biggest issue to me are the complaints surrounding changes to Ashley, in which comments about the "ballistics" line being removed, and her wearing more clothing are going crazy on YouTube, etc. The reason they removed the line is very simple to understand. It just simply aged very poorly, and Luis comes across like a creep, rather than a flirtatious ladies man that he portrays himself as, which does not help his character when he is meant to be likeable. When it comes to Ashley's outfit, it is the same as the original, however she is wearing a jacket and tights. The fact that there are any complaints about that is staggering honestly. Also, whatever the modders do to the outfits is none of my business and I don't care.

A totally separate complaint I see is about the 3rd trailer, including the voice acting, and in some people's words "Disney" approach to characterisation and scenes. First, the voice acting certainly can be strange to hear for many of us who are veterans of the original game, however you simply need to get used to them, trust me, majority if not all of them will grow on you and you will embrace the fact it is different. I can agree with the criticism about Ada's voice actor, however to truly judge, we need to see full scenes. When it comes to the comedy, it's RE4, it's always had comedy thrown into very serious moments. The dynamic of Leon and Luis works extremely well, and as long as they keep these moments spaced correctly, it should feel very natural and fun.

Minor stuff: If you don't know if you can run the game or not, check what the minimum and recommended requirements are, then compare them to your own specs through the website UserBenchmark, it's very simple to use. Also yes, the rain looks bad, we know, the devs no doubt know, and all we can do is hope they tweak it.

Most of the people making the complaints are probably the first ones that line up for the newest marvel garbage. About the only complaints that I saw about the voice acting really don't have merit unless pee wee herman is voicing Salazar or something like that where the VA just doesn't line up at all.

Krauser's voice feels weird to listen to, but I don't care, gimme that knife fight. Saddler sounded like Marlon Brando for a sec, then his timbre changed and he sounded totally different which I liked. Sherrie sounds more mature, mucho better. Salazar sounds pretty good also. The only thing that I might get sad about is if they weren't able to secure the original VA for the Vendor.

Other people having complaints is not concerning to me. The ones that concern me are the ones where people complain about weird things, like the Ashley stuff that I mentioned. It doesn't have to directly affect me for me to want to call it out as weird.

Check out all the mods for the RE games on nexus mods, and all the different types there are, RE4 will have some spicy mods in the first 48 hours, probably downloaded 500k times. Weird is just going to happen bud. We're all degens.

Yes, which is why I said in my post that I know modders will do that stuff and I don't care. The point is it's weird to complain about the way Ashley is in the base game. I don't really need to know about other players virgin obsessions bud

When RE2 came out people were complaining about Leon and Claire's new looks and faces, it's nothing new, blah blah, Claire isn't sexy enough. RE3 Remake blah blah Jill looks too something something, I dont like it, not sexy enough. Dead Space Remake, people complaining about Isaac and Nicole's new looks,they look too old. People up here complaining about Chris' new looks in 7 and 8. It's nothing new.

If they remake 5 and Chris isn't roided out, people will act all inflamed, who cares? Like I said we're all degens.

I disagree. We are not all "degens". I am not the kind of person who sexualizes fictional characters. But since I'm not on everyone else's shoes who am I to judge their tastes? That being said, this also doesn't stop me from making fun of people who want everything sexualized, and many do deserve it.

Regarding the Ashley remarks, when Resident Evil 4 was first released, no one was talking about the ballistics joke. But now that it has been removed, some people act like it was something important. This is not a matter of censoring or catering to anyone. The truth is that this line had no place in the game in the first place. So whoever cries about it should realize that not everything has to be sexualized.

As for the voice acting, while it indeed may sound alien - mostly to people who are used to the original dub -, I believe that it is mostly a matter of people clinging on a hate train, since crying about the VA is the first major rant about the game.

Ashley looks strange. Don't care about them removing lines or anything like that, but she looks very odd and distracting imo. She kind of looks more cartoonish than the old somehow even though they were going more realistic. hair, clothes, makeup... face seems boring or off too.

Ashley's ballistics and "what are you looking at" are integral to RE4's identity. It's the game how I remember it. It's this game's "clock tower" if you will.

If RE4make is sterilized and stripped of fan service, character designs and VAs are different, what remains then? What remains is an okay shooter that's using the renowned name to get more sales than it got any business to.
