Red Faction Guerrilla is an amazing stealth game!
Was playing some good ol' faction Red Faction, when i thought to myself "Hey, let's try and sneak this ♥♥♥♥ out, some real Guerrilla-in-the-mist type shenanigans." So i did, and you know what? There are a TON of detailed AI systems in place to support the stealth play style that many people probably don't even notice, and with a few uI tweaks, it would probably be perfect, here's some example:

-The AI have a cone of vision that's about 150 degrees infront of them, you can approach them from their blind spots with reasonable effectiveness.
-The AI has a hearing perception, and will investigate loud noises from explosions to walls crumbling to your own footsteps if you're so inclined to sprint up behind them. Explosives can be used as a distraction and will not reveal your location to enemies.
-The AI will have difficulty identifying you while crouched at longer ranges and will not aggro unless they are altered.
-The AI have several different alert statuses other than the green/yellow/orange/red. If they are suspect you are present, they will investigate without triggering an alert status.
-Dead bodies will trigger the AI into this status and they will search the area for you, sometimes climbing to higher vantage points to get a better view. Corpses can be moved with your own player with a high degree of precision most of the time.
-This game has a system similar to Splinter-cells "last known location" system introduced in the most recent games, ducking behind a wall or obstacle will incline the AI to search where they saw you go into hiding, or possibly throw a grenade to flush you out. keeping hidden will then cause the AI search the immediate area around them.
-Mass destruction will cause higher alert levels as you would expect, but the EDF will not necessarily know where the assailant is until they have seen them.
-Killing enemies with your hammer will not alert other enemies to your position under certain circumstances. Speaking from experience, crouching up behind them and performing an overhead swing will maximize the chance of remaining undetected.

Using this information (and a max deployed remote charge count) you are able to infiltrate a base, place your charges, ex-filtrate, and detonate it without anyone ever knowing you were there. If there was a bit more feedback on the UI, they probably could of thrown in some Stealth based missions in there and it would have worked pretty flawlessly.

Anyway, i highly recommend trying out a more subtle approach to destruction in RF:G...

ah who am i kidding, grab your rocket launcher and go nuts...

some issues i do have with it ,
1. sometimes Attacking a soldier with a hammer when no one else is around DOES raise the alarm
2. When the AI is looking for you , they seem to know exactlly where you are EVEN if there was no soldier around and you moved to a newer hiding place
so i wouldn't call it a stealth game , but the basics are there , they just had to tweak it a little more
i sure hope someday - someone will find a way to edit the AI , then it will be one of the GREATEST games that ever existed

+1 i'd buy this game for the Nth time if it was more stealth and possibilities to hide.
