Should I buy the Maurader Nano Forge Device in Red Faction Guerrilla?
Will it actually be a useful weapon and do I actually need to buy it?

Are you talking about the Nano Rifle? Because the Nano Forge is found in a story mission, and you don't have to purchase it. I don't think you need to purchase the Nano Rifle, either, but it has very useful upgrades to purchase.

Yeah I meant the nano rifle. What about the grinder. The one that shoots out saw blades??? Should I equip both or one over the other?

I've never liked the Grinder a lot, but it does kill pretty quickly. Hopefully someone else will weigh in and give you another perspective.

My favorite loadout is generally Rocket Launcher / Remote Charges, Nano Rifle, and Arc Welder, but that varies depending on the mission I'm about to take on. Sometimes I'll take both rocket launcher and remote charges to get maximum destructive power. Other times I won't take any explosives because I want to focus on killing soldiers.

The Nano Rifle is extremely powerful. It's a one-hit kill on most soldiers (possibly not the ones using a shield, but maybe even then). It's my favorite weapon, though it can feel rather limited on ammo because it's useful for everything. It can destroy buildings, it can take down aircraft, it can vaporize ground vehicles. But you can eat through it's 30 shots pretty quickly if you do use it for everything.

Also, don't forget to pick up EDF and Marauder weapons they drop. Once you have one it'll show up in your weapons locker. There are 5 or so EDF weapons to pick up over the course of the game, and 2 or 3 Marauder weapons. I don't find all of them useful, but your tastes may vary, and some are fun to play with.

Thanks!

The Nano Rifle is a useful weapon, and I was under the impression that you needed to buy it to progress the story?

Thanks! I bought the Nano Rifle.

I carry shaped charges until I get the rocket launcher, then thermobaric rocket.
I then carry the Assualt Rifle until that starts going away, then I switch to the Enforcer.
I never use the 4 button slot until I get the nano rifle. That's my go-to gunship-downing weapon.

Best loadout for me is remote charges, nano rifle, and thermobaric rocket. All fully upgraded is op.

Remote charges never stop being the most fun weapon in the game.

I like the sledgehammer, it's fun to just beat people's ribs out or take bit by bit off a building until it finally collapses. Remote charges are fun, but the main thing to do with them is just throw it and detonate.

But then again, everyone's different! :edf:

I use remote charges as improvised proximity charges.
