What is an FFA map?

People mention it, and its listed as a map type when starting a new game, but there is no info anywhere what it means?

Question is... how long have you been in the gaming entertainment, if new i can understand why you not familiar with term. FFA means Free For All... where all players start with no allies, though you can work to make allies, its harder. Its only mentioned in descriptions of map as suggestions, does not mean you have to follow it. I often play 3 player maps meant for FFA, but have allie vs strong ai* or NME*.

AI* is artificial intelligence
NME is as it sounds... Enemy, just shorter.

Gaming developers don't often explain in detail about gaming termonology, they figure the game community will handle it.

And no im not new to gaming, been playing since quake. I dont do abbreviations, they can mean anything. Try googling FFA like I did, and see what you get. You wont find anything on this game in the first 10 pages, ill tell you that much. Devs should not be assuming people will just know what 3 obscure letters mean.

FFA is a pretty standard abreviation in gaming. I also know (having grown up in MT) that FFA is also the "Future Farmers of America." If you googled FFA and got several results that didn't make sense, try thinking of the context of the abbreviation, in this case, gaming. Try "FFA abbreviation gaming or such, it should narrow searches down in the future. I still run into abbreviations I don't know all the time and use that to help me.

I googled "sins of the solar empire:rebellion"+ffa. Cant be more specific than that
